RJF92's Estoril Blue F31 Touring

Hi guys,

I figured I'd start a thread here as some of the posts on here have given me inspiration for my "build".

This is my first venture into owning a BMW or even a German car. I've always owned older Japanese cars, predominantly Honda's.

A change of job role at work means that I'm now doing a lot more miles than I was previously, which meant I had to find a replacement for my 2003 Honda Accord Tourer as it was only averaging 22mpg! Here’s a photo for any closet JDM fanboys.

I looked at a few marques and models in my hunt for a new car but kept coming back to the F31 M Sport. I then stumbled across a private sale ad for a 2015 320d M Sport Plus F31 in Estroil Blue – from the moment I saw the ad I knew it was the one I wanted.

So here it is… I picked it up on 17th June and this is my progress thus far…

After the inaugural clean…

The first change was black grilles and to adapt my Thule roof rack and bike carriers to the car:

Next up was H&R Sport lowering springs

Then came the front lip/splitter – it’s an Ikon Motorsports item. I prefer it to the standard MP splitter you see on these.

Then my favourite addition, the OEM 437M wheels… I’m currently running the standard 225/40, 255/35 tyre setup which is way too narrow. I’ll be switching to a 245/35, 265/35 setup in the next couple of weeks.

And most recently, the dual exhaust tip conversion.

It looks great!!

Do you have the part numbers you used to do the dual tip conversion? That's the most annoying thing about our Touring.

Car looks great!

It’s not actually a genuine part, but very good quality nonetheless. Actually found it on eBay - came from France.

Nice all around balance to the look. Curious as to the distance from your splitter to the ground. Considering lowering my F31 next Spring.

Very nice! You've done the little things very well... black grilles, splitter, lowering springs, roof rack... awesome.

But... why is your steering wheel on that side??? Haha, jokes from the Americans. I did a little bit of wrong side driving when I was in Japan... tricky to get used to, can't say I'm a fan... but when you see a RHD in the states it's always a funny double-take.

Nothing much more planned for the time being. I'm on the hunt for a 3D Design spoiler, but that'll keep me happy for now.

It's fairly close, less than two inches (at a guess). I've smashed it into a few speed bumps and scraped the underside but nothing that is noticeable.

The correct side? I've driven LHD in the US and Europe and always end up smashing my arm into the door when attempting to change gear with the wrong arm!

Quick update! There have been a few changes since I last posted here...

- Colour-coded M Performance Splitter
- Colour-coded 3D Design (Replica) Spoiler
- M Performance Side Skirt Extensions
- LCI Tail Lights

Hopefully once the weather improves, i'll be able to get some proper photos!

Fantastic looking F31 - very tasteful mods. Came looking to see what your suspension setup was as it looks like the perfect stance.

I’ve got a F31 x drive M Sport and currently deliberating on which springs/dampers to go for.

Are you running spacers Or did you fit wider tyres?
