The 911 is obviously very underrated.

The Corvette did well considering its down on straightline speed compared to both and matched the R8 with less aggressive tires and less power.

Agreed. The 992 is way down on power and really shows up the other two by a lot. More so the R8 since it has cup tires.

I saw a stock 4S dyno, and it put down about 380 wheel horsepower. At a 15% loss for AWD that puts it right around 440 crank and in line with stock quoted numbers so I don’t think the 992 is underrated.
A stock C8 I saw a dyno of put down 466 wheel horsepower, meaning with a 12% loss for RWD it’s making 520 or so HP. Agnostic of that the C8 is still making close to 100 more WHP so it’s got plenty more power from a pure numbers standpoint.
The results themselves are really a testament to the 992 that it’s chassis just is able to outdo a much more powerful C8. Weight wise they aren’t too too far off given AWD adds weight to the 992 that the C8 doesn’t. Really good win for the much less powerful 992.

Food for thought: the 992S (rwd) ran 1:53.3.

Hennessey's C8 was an outlier. The 451wtq was a telltale sign. There's no way the LT2 is making that bone stock. Most are putting down around 440-450whp/400wtq.

As for the 992S, 380whp is a lowball. Most 991.2 CS's were putting out that exact number. MotorTrend did 414/406 and GIAC at 403/435 for their 992S's.

So let me amend my post and say its way down on hp to the R8, the torque is spot on the with the C8(if not better due to FI), power not too far apart, and its significantly lighter than both.

The 992S's torque curve most likely is a good bit wider than the C8's, add in about 200lbs weight advantage for the 992S and the results make sense.
Typically the .2 S put down about 370 wheel HP. The 4S put down a good bit less then too. The 992 S is basically a 991.2 GTS for power.

The 4S isn't in the above comparison though. Don't see why you brought it up.

The 2020 Corvette in typical trim is about 150-200lbs heavier than a 992S.

You have to hand it to Porsche....they build great cars. I've seen a few C8's now and they are pretty sharp.

It must have been mislabeled, bc when it was sent to me it was classified as a 4S. That’s why I’ve been thinking 4S. My bad.

Either way that C8 has 40 or so more at the wheels and I’d guess even more torque given it’s rated at 470 vs the 911s 390.

At the same time, I do also think the C8 has the better of the summer tires.

I’m a huge fan of the 992 with its 993-esque styling.

I’ve not seen more than 1, maybe 2 new C8s in the road. I need to see it more up close before I can make a judgement. I like certain aspects of the styling more than others, but in all honestly the engine just doesn’t tickle my fancy with the low redline. I’m more interesting in see what the Z06 is, but there my problem is, I realize I don’t need anywhere near the HP it will offer.

Cups are certainly better. I’d love to see Pzero vs PS4S, but my experience with those two brands is that Michelin 4S is the better tire.

I might be biased but the 992 looked more composed even on shitty pirellis.

The c8 trans seemed slow and the r8 was a mixed bag of understeer on entry and oversteer on exit, was surprised it was on cup tires and still behaving like that.

I noticed how much more composed the 992 was than either of the other cars. It was rather surprising that the 992 not only down on power and torque by a good bit and also on the worst tires still handily put down the best time.
