Goodyear runflats to non runflats

Can anyone confirm correct tyre sizes on my 435d xdrive to the move from GY Eagle f1 runflats to GY Eagle f1 non runflats as I believe there's an issue with size and they are different sizes on offer compared to runflats ? I've got 19s. Thanks

last time i did this i ruined the ride of the car.

Squishy and vague and lacked turn in feel.

Modern run flats are much better but you need a digital tire pressure gauge to get them perfect

The rears are available in 255x35x19 F1 asymmetric 3 but the fronts are not made yet in 225x40x19, so your option is 235x40x19 but asymmetric 2 Give 8mm increase in diameter (4mm ride height) or you go 245x35x19 as others but that gives you around a 7mm smaller diameter so slightly lower.

There are others you can get in the standard sizes in non run flat if you want to keep the same diameters.

You must keep your front to rear diameters the same or you will potentially damage the transfer box (xDrive). Mind you there has been threads on just putting any non * (BMW) rated tyre could cause issues. In short any deviation from standard approved BMW tyres will run risks on xDrive, changing a tyre size at one end & not the other is almost guaranteeing issues at some stage...

Cheers guys regarding sizes I believe there was a calculator to check the difference?, anyone any idea where that is and what values are of concern?

http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

The overall diameter front compared to rear is the critical thing with xDrive - make sure it is within the same tolerance as the oem tyres - 255x35x19 & 225x40x19. But in doing so accept any tyre not star rated is a risk however minor. In short, unless you know what you are doing keep with oem sizes as going up sizes could start to have clearance impacts and going down will just not look good plus your speedo will be out and I don't know if you will affect DSC etc.... Personally I really don't see the point of changing from runflats as modern ones are fine, unless you have changed your springs and now the ride is too firm - as you will know xDrive as standard is running on SE suspension so putting softer tyres on may not be the ride you want... If you must shift from runflats go to another tyre maker that does the correct sizes...

Thanks the reason is because I am sick of buying new tyres then hitting a hole or something and then getting an egg in the sidewall that is terminal.

Amen to that!!

FWIW, I agree the modern Goodyear runflats are much better than those Bridgestones fitted on the E9x, but still they are very firm. I've never regretted putting normal tyres on instead of wallet-ruining run-flats, ride is much improved IMO; nothing wrong with a bit of squish either, as it stops the car skittering around on bumpy surfaces when pushing on a bit.

I believe you can get the non runflat asymmetric 3 in 225/40/19 now :

https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyr...r19-93y-789447

Although I am likely to go 245/35/19 next.

A few seconds to check the post is all it needs, so that it makes sense & people can add something useful to the thread, which is for your benefit anyway …. okay rant over …. is it runflats or non runflats please?

What are you on about?!.

I've stated I want to swap to non runflats in the first post, and commented that the link the above guy kindly posted is most likely a runflat tyre thus description is incorrect.

I am mate thanks, but I think that description is incorrect. I checked goodyear website and they don't seem to offer that in a non runflat fitment.

But look at the price of the 225’s! Might as well get MPS4S at that price.

Yes I’ve got 245/35 19’s on my fronts, no problems so far and they give the front end more grip.

I swapped my Bridgestone RFT OEM setup for the PS4S. Night and day difference in ride, grip and noise (better in all cases with the new tyres). I'm now definitely in the "ditch the RFTs" camp!

Ok, good to read this discussion.

Going to change all tyres on my 335D xdrive getting close to limit, had not thought about non runflats. Yes handling is poor I had assumed it was the spring rates. If I go non runflats probably better to get a spare wheel, tyre, a jack and wheel spider.

Is there a common suggested non runflat.

Thanks
