F30 2012 328i . hesitation at low rpm s
Ive got the worst of luck with this car. It only has like 19.000 miles but it has all kids of problems.
this is my problem you start to accelerate on low rpm on 1st or 2nd or any gear (like 1500-2000) and you fell like the car is hesitating or like its missing a beat. If you go beyond 3.000 rpms everything is normal. Also I you WOT the car is perfect. Another thing im feeling now is when Im stopped in Drive. And when I release the brake to accelerate I feel a small shake. CEL has not been triggered. I scanned the car and there was NO error stored. I went ahead and changed the 4 spark plugs with gem and the problem remained exactly the same. I also had 4 new injectors and went ahead a changed them and coded them. But the problem persists. My next guess is changing the coils. Any ideas. Ps dealer will not take my car cause its a direct import. |

The shake when releasing the brake pedal may be your start-stop feature turning the engine on. Is start-stop active when you drive?
Are you driving AT or MT? If AT, try accelerating in manual mode and see if you have the same hesitation. I don't mean just throwing the shift lever over to the left. You have to also push it up or down.

Yes . I always run it in low rpms. Shifts at around 2500 automatically. It has started with this issue just a few weeks ago. And I have the car since 2012 and never noticed it before.

I notice it sometimes after cold starting. It seems the torque converter locks up a little early, feels like when driving stick and you engage the clutch too soon. Happens less in sports mode. However, it seems like the poster is saying this happens all the time.

Really havent found one with the same problem. And they dont want to do a software update if theres no check engine light on .

ok, so checked the transmission fluid level on the car, thinking it might have a low level, and to my surprise the fluid was mixed with water. So that might be the problem. I will change fluid, filter/pan and transmission cooler, and report back.

I had a 2012 328i and it was always rough at lower RPMs unless I drove in Sport mode. Had a 328i loaner and it was the same; the 4-banger paired with 8-speed tranny seemed to struggle under about 2200-2400 RPMs

i have the same issue with my 2014 F30 N20 . I found that air filter enclosure wasnt properly alligned and closed even if the 4 clips were closed. Car runs better and the hesitation is very minimal . I am about the order a K&N air filter to improve air flow
