So two things:

- power supply, I understand I need to keep the voltage up whilst coding but can't have the engine running. A power supply I need is quite expensive, could I keep another car running and use jump leads to power mine?

- router. You mentioned I need a router to flash a gateway, I'm guessing it's a normally configured router and it's the DHCP server I need. My question is the connections. Do I go from the car into the router, and from the router into the laptop?
Ever if you have engine running, when you start process, engine will go off.
You can use another car, but riskier as that does not regulate ampere as well.

You can also use software router.

Some dealership options can be coded with ISTA+, but you need NCS Expert for most coding.

You can use ISTA+ and ICOM A but you need to insert the Full psdzdata or SDP.

I heard different opinions on different forums and some say you can do Integration levels updates with ISTA+ and Enet cable no problems, except the MOST modules?

I have only an Enet cable and I would like to upgrade the software but Im little bit skeptic on doing it with ENET cable?

Thanks

ISTA-P requires ICOM-B for MOST ECU's on E-series.

ISTA+ uses ICOM-A for F/I/G-series BMW's.

Thanks.

ISTA + works very well for me for basic stuff, diagnostics or minor coding with Enet cable, but I’d be afraid to try anything else without the Icom Cable.

Requires means you cannot use ENET for programming. Software will prevent.

ENET is fine for diagnostics and procedures (eg, registering battery).

I am not sure if this is a cheater ...

First he's selling software which can be downloaded for free in the internet.
Then he's offering...

ISTA-D RHEINGOLD (v4.10.21) [2020] AVAILABLE ONLY HERE!
ISTA-P RHEINGOLD (v3.64.0.600) [2020] AVAILABLE ONLY HERE!
E-SYS (v3.31.0) [2020] AVAILABLE ONLY HERE!

These are old versions from 2018.
Also i don't know what the [2020] means?
Also he's only giving a download link for these programs.

So no good idea to buy this.

Good catch. I did not even look at the version.

Maybe only available there because they are old.

OK fair enough. I am a bit rusty on this. And thanks for the info. Are his cables worth the $100 or are equivalents also available elsewhere?

I have an old INPA system working for my 2004 760, and a more recent version on a Windows XP laptop for my 2008 M6. What I need is to get up to speed for my E60 2012 X5M. piecing together these bits of info from various sources, via web-searching is rough. Is there "one page to rule them all", which has the current requirements for ISTA+? I am mainly interested in diagnostics and error code removal, only.

For diagnostics and coding, you just need one of these: https://www.bimmergeeks.net/product-...eeks-pro-cable

If you plan to program, you would want ICOM.
