hahah... love my F31. Love the fact it's a wagon. Wish they bought a 335+ wagon into AU.

Waiting on the new gen to get its bugs ironed out before i change.

Love my F30. I have put 76k on the clock now and its the first car i have had that i feel like I dont need to change

this car brought the 18yo JDM modding days out of me. Still so many mods to do I see myself keeping this for another 3 - 4 years

HOWEVER the timing chain worries me. I feel like changing it at 100k as a preventive measure. Stu have you done any n20 yet? What do you think is a fair charge for this ?

We're still really enjoying the F31 330 and plenty of power and torque for around the suburbs. Really impressive cars and great value. I thought I would miss the N54 engine but don't really notice its gone, though ours was stock.

Lots of fun too when you want it. I had the back sliding just a tiny bit in sport this morning on the way to pick up the girls from ballet. Of course I really needed to get around that right hand corner fast.

We also have the m performance exhaust and alot of other mp bits on which makes it feel a little special. The exhaust actually does sound very nice and a few pops and crackles when you want them.

I had my heart set on an F80 at some stage but I think I will skip it. My only gripe is the platform is a little big and you notice the size but fun all the same. Turning circle is not great but extra space is the trade off.

The nav sat in sydney is also a bit dodgy, slow to update/divert due to traffic and sometimes directs you to the back of a building or a road on the other side of the freeway. Really wish I could get google maps on it.

The boot is a little small but we have the roof pod if need.

The difference between comfort and sport in terms of damper stiffness could also be a lot greater and shame the m-sport models do not come with an LSD as standard.

Otherwise I can't really fault it but we only have 7000ks or so on it.

Haven't done one. Only major issues I've seen are those cracking a piston but most have been fixed under warranty.. although as time goes on we'll see how BMW's attitude is towards this.

Yep, the for sale threads are because most people have now finished their lease on the current f series generation of the 3er and are moving on (some upgrading to M2/3/4, some to a new platform, and some waiting for the next generation G20 to come out)

I think it's a great car for its class, has its pros and cons but overall it's a turbo luxury euro that most guys like to mod.

Personally, I have enjoyed it but have seriously thought hard about changing to the new c63s AMG (w205) but might wait till the g20 3er M3 version comes. Let's see.

Yep, i think most original 2012 owners (myself included) have moved on, i had the f30 for a solid 6 years. As the car ages, so does the demographic (remember the guy with the 22in rims? Lol) and at that point, the discussions diminishes

The f30 was an awesome car, clearly the best driving in the segment, and much like the e90lci, has a design that is ageing quite well

I think most people are holding out for the g20, Im and keen to price out the upcoming m340i and m3

really enjoying the m2, quite a different car both practically and driveability wise to the 3. Its borderline obnoxious with with the downpipe and muffler, so my neightbours love me

and demography and age arent mutually exclusive lol

This
If it's xDrive and an 'm performance' model I suspect it'll be ~$110k like the E92 335i was (and closer in pricing to the C43) as opposed to the 340i which could be had for ~$90k

Mine is 65k, 2012 build. Planning to do the N20/N26 Timing chain upgrade along with other major services when it hits 70k. Labour quote for the timing chain ranges from 1k to 2k.

good to see so many still here in chats.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my F30s (328 and then 340), obviously enjoying the power and gadgets that came with the 340 more haha. It seems to be a great platform for mods, and for it's class it does feel like a nice overall package.

What i'd love to see in the next gen of 3'ers would be all wheel drive. Just the ability to put down, stick and go without the tail wagging off the line would be nice.

Having spent six years in the same chassis and overall look - an opportunity came up & I have just jumped platforms. Now the F30 is gone... and i'm in a w205 C63s , early days but loving every moment of it.

I too probably would have liked to have seen AWD having come from quattro but you know they AWD really adds a lot of weight so for most driving I'm not sure how much of an advantage it is, but as you say great for launches and of course wet weather driving.

The w205 C63s is a great upgrade. Really nice looking car especially in the touring and coupe.

Did you ever consider the C43 in AWD? Seems to me like a great package.

Yea i thought about it, but the sound of the 8's vs the 6's won me over... that and the sheer amount of torque the C63s puts out. I was amazed how much it can pull away once rolling

Completely agree. I'm currently doing a short term swap of my M3 for a friends C63s. We decided to see what each other's car is like to live with and drive for a longer period. The sound is absolutely intoxicating on the C63 and being the coupe it's a very good looking car as well. Going to be tough to hand back at the end of it as much as I love and miss my M3

The US aren't getting a wagon variant for the G20 (G21?) so I think it's unlikely BMW Aus will expand its range of wagons.

I would love a 340i x-drive in wagon format.

Wow, good way to get a 6 cylinder F31. Anymore details of where it is located? Worth just dropping in for a look.

What solution did you choose for rattling door lock pins?
