oil leak, housing gasket or valve cover gasket?

I think I might have an oil leak. Today I found a few spots of fresh oil on my garage floor. I've noticed more white smoke than usual coming out of my exhaust, although it is colder outside so that might be why I'm noticing more smoke. I have a downpipe but it seems to smell more than it did previously. I checked near my downpipe but I didn't spot any oil there. I did however spot oil on the housing. I believe I already had this replaced under warranty one year ago so I can't imagine that it would be leaking again. Car has about 56,000 miles. I have attached some pics, let me know what you guys think. Oil temps seem to be same and I haven't had any issues with overheating.

Smoke from your exhaust probably has nothing to do with the oil leak. If it's white and not crazy thick smoke, it's probably not smoke at all and just water vapor evaporating out of your exhaust system, typically happens at start up and for the first 5-10 mins until the car is fully warmed up and all the water is evaporated out.

If there's oil on your oil filter housing, I'm guessing the gasket(s) are bad again. I replaced mine twice last year, less than 15K miles apart. Albeit, the first time, I used aftermarket gaskets. The other possible common culprits are the VCG, which would usually drip oil onto the exhaust manifold, burn and cause a burning smell from the engine bay, or the oil pan gasket, which is not really a DIY because it requires dropping the front subframe.

Check to see if there's oil running down the front of the engine, onto and around the serpentine belt, if so, it's probably your OFHG. If you get under your car and there's oil all around your oil pan, it's probably your oil pan gasket.

oil cooler and oil fiter housing gasket, if you are already taking off the ofhg might as well do the oil cooler too since they are essentially on the same piece you are removing from the engine block

Your ofhg seems to look fine, it's probably something else. Take the engine cover off and check the valve cover on the left side and around the turbo manifold. All this should be covered under the California emissions state warranty if that applies in the state you live in. If you have a 2013 it should be covered for 8 years 100,000 miles 2014 above should be covered for 7 years 70,000 miles.

It's covered under factory warranty not emissions warranty

That's amazing news. I have a 13 335i and it's only at 63K. Indie just quoted me $860 for the ofhg and the belt and tensioner. I will gladly save that $600 by taking it to the dealer if part of it is covered.

Edit: not seeing a way to cover the ofhg under any of these warranties ..

The OFHG isn't covered by the emissions warranty, only the valve cover gasket is.
