e89 and z8 for looks and an e46 m3 csl for drivers, I'd pay 65k for a new one if they sold them here, right now

Meh. It's a looker insofar as an abstract idea of beauty is concerned. I think we ascribe our ideas of beauty to an ideal imposed on us by common opinion - "there is only one of X therefore it must be unique and/or beautiful" or "it's sitting in a museum therefore it must have value". Basically, I'm saying that just because there is so much aura around the 328MM, we automatically stand up and say "wow it [must be] beautiful!". I am guilty of same.

I posit that the 328MM is a unique looking car that is hardly beautiful, and I further posit that since we are from the 21st century, what we consider beautiful and what the 1930s people considered beautiful are completely different things, and therefore we should appreciate what we have and let old things sit around in museums.

That said, there aren't any beautiful BMWs out now. :]

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, no discussion.

The 1937 328 MM

1937 Delage Pourtout, a stunner imo:

1931 Mercedes 710 SSK Trossi

But I also love a Ferrari 250SWB/GTO, 330P4, 512S, 512BB/LM, F40/LM/F355/430/458, Cobra(289/427/Daytona) , Porsche 550RSK/718RSK Spyder/917K/ 959/Carrera GT/new 918/ 991, Benz 300SL(R) and the lot...Lambo Miura /Countach/Murcielago /Aventador, Aston DB4GT/Superleggera /GT Zagato/Nimrod(LOL)/V8 Vantage/Vanquish/new V8 Vantage/One 77, McLaren F1/LM(GREATEST CAR EVER) some TVRs, Iso Grifo, some Mustangs/Vettes/Vipers olde and new.A Ruf CTR. A few Maseratis etc. Bizzarinis. etc etc.

BMW? OK the 328MM , a 3.0CSL Batmobile isn't exactly beautiful, maybe a M1 Procar is?
M3 CSL is ok.

Each to his own. I still stand by my original dare I say, summation regarding the 328MM. Am I guilty of following the status quo? Maybe, maybe not, but I could hardly be bothered either way. I choose to enjoy it for what I feel it is or is not as they case may be and leave the analysis to others.

IDK what it is, but a e34 always gets me, especially in dark grey or green.
