Can't decide what to do with the suspension

I have a 328i Xdrive pre LCI which is equal with soft suspension.
My first thought was to only put on sport springs (Eibach, lowers 15 mm).
Should I put on H&R sway bars as well? How will that affect the ride? Will it be stiffer or just less body roll? I'm also considering bilstein B8's. However, doing all three things will make the car to stiff, or?
Anyone tried this?
I want it to be perfect at the first try.

There are many threads discussing pros and cons of various options: stock springs and new shocks, stock shocks and new lowering springs, and coilovers. Search, read, and by all means learn what other forum members evaluated and selected. Invaluable.

If you want to do this only once and your budget is within $2K range, coilovers are the only option providing matched shocks and springs. To contrast - soft shocks and stiffer lowering springs were not designed to work together.

I suggest to explore KW Street Comfort coilovers as a start. That's what I selected after extensive research. Great product.

Might I ask why you picked KW's over the Bilstein B14s or the PSS10 B16s? I am leaning towards the B16's (and the PSS 9's to replace the H&R's on my 911), but I'm certainly interested on hearing about the research you did and why you picked KW's.

Thanks! David

Hi David,

When I decided to purchase KW Street Comfort coilovers for 2013 F30 335i xDrive, my requirements were:

- Wanted to maintain suspension geometry; lower suspension by 10mm only
- Adjustable rebound damping was sufficient for street and freeway driving

B14 (PSS): not adjustable; minimum lowering 30mm
B16 (PSS9/PSS10): fully adjustable (compression and rebound); minimum lowering 30mm; more expensive: +$1K

Please listen to the above poster and upgrade to a full coilover only instead of just springs which will make the ride unbearable - bouncy and crashing into every bump. If you do springs only you will end up spending more labor cost taking them off and putting a coilover set on.

Thanks for the follow up. Price quote I see for KW Part #1802000S Street Comfort is $1,869.99 (Amazon) and either the B16 PSS10 Part #48-217170 or B16 PSS10 Part #48-229012 for $1,869.57 (Import Replacement Parts). So, I don't see a $1K price diff. Also, I think there is a comparable PSS 10 version to the KW Street Comfort which is the Adjustable PSS 10 'Comfort' version #48-229012 with drops from 10mm-30mm, and the Adjustable PSS 10 'Standard' version #48-217170 with drops from 30mm - 50mm.

It's worthwhile to take a look at www.allshocks.com. Very competitive prices.

I think both KW and Bilstein coilovers will offer what you are looking for: matched springs and shocks.

When the installation is complete, please share pictures. It's good to see another forum member with xDrive vehicle make the suspension what it perhaps should have been from the first day.

I'd go with the H&R sport. I love how it makes the ride stiff.
