oil won’t measure
Trying to measure oil on my f30 335i. Measurement keeps stopping at 17. No codes or noises or leaks. I had my oil pump tested and had my oil pickup checked. Oil pressure control valve and oil pressure sensor replaced. Not sure what’s the problem is now, I wait for the car to be warm and I make sure it’s level.
Any help is appreciated Thank You |

Has you car had a remap or tune?
It has come to my attention that some BMWs, after having a remap or tune, can not read the oil level through the iDrive. Either it gets stuck at 0% and nothing happens or it goes up some percentage then just exits the oil measurement randomly. No idea why that happens. Either way, you can check on the dipstick. Although, reading through the forums i do remember some people don't even have a dipstick (so they say. I have never seen a BMW without dipstick) and have to rely on the iDrive measurement.

I just googled for oil measurement stops at 17% and found a bunch of posts right here on this forum including two people that said the o-rings or the basket thing inside the oil filter housing were missing. Take your oil filter out and check what's in there against the parts diagram you might find something is missing.
