Have we got many "coders" in the UK?
Just wondering if we had many people in the UK who are handy with coding their F30's. Seems quite a popular thing in the US but not really seen any mention of coders in the UK. Are you out there?

I haven't see any. On the e90 forum their are loads but none seem to have coded a f30 yet. Shame as there are some cool looking updates you can make.
I did ask the question on the e90 forum http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...6#post13272676 . Last edited by RichardM; 02-12-2013 at 03:17 PM.. |

I've coded a few things...
Auto stop-start to remember last setting Windows will still close after door is opened Digital speed display Show HP and ft-lbs in Sports Display Change number of blinks for One-Touch indicators Change mirror unfolding speed As I write software and used to design hardware I didn't find it too difficult to learn how to do it all. It was the ability to turn off the auto stop-start that was the spur to doing it though. |

I was tempted to get myself an ENET cable and have go myself. The only thing I prob wanted done is activate the BMW Live service or the ability to fold the wing mirrors via the fob.

There is no coding as such, it's like changing the MS Registry entries from True to False. The software download is massive, it's about 22GB. I just need the cable. Last edited by kitster; 02-17-2013 at 03:36 AM.. |

I got my cable from here http://www.codecard.lt/electronics/t.../prod_651.html Not cheap, but I couldn't be bothered to get all the bits and build it myself. After that, it's just a case of following (carefully) the instructions in the thread Kitster referenced above. The software does need a lot of free memory, so make sure you either have a lot of RAM or shut everything else down when you run it. I originally ran it on a Windows 7 laptop with only 1GB of RAM and it ran out of free memory in the middle of programming the car, which made it slow to a crawl, and it then took 20 minutes to finish the programming (instead of 30 seconds or so), with me sweating the whole time thinking it was going to crash and I was going to brick the car. You really don't want to go there. |

Which version of the software do you have? The latest posts on the coding thread suggests you now need to buy a token to use it.
I've got E-Sys 3.18.4 (207MB) and PSDZDATA 47.7 (22GB) |

I'm on 47.4, which is before the token thing came in (you'll need to use the version that matches the firmware in your car). If in doubt send shawnsheridan a PM and ask - he is a guru on this stuff and very helpful.

So you didn't have the folding option as part of your added extras?

I knew they'd fold but I thought they'd be like my E91 ie push a button inside. Never knew they'd fold from the fob. |

Well spin my nipple nuts... superb thanks.
Is there a way to keep the info bar white, ie day running at night while the speedo and rev counter are the orange colour ?

Don't think the dealer would touch it due to the liabilities for them that would come with it, i.e. coding Video In Motion and there is a crash with this feature in use

Eyyyy ups - Lancashire! Only just seen this. I usually know which members have/are expecting which cars but you've slipped through the net! What'cha getting? Which dealership are you using out of interest?
