First, great pictures.
As for the car... It's a 435i with an M4 nose and trunk. Take off the M4 badging on the side and it's fine. Can't people imagine someone already owning a 435i deciding to go this route? I'm not sure selling a 435i you already own to buy an M4 is small financial jump from this. I am definitely not one of them, but you had to know the readers vomiting at M badges wouldn't be fans of this conversion.

Just wrap fender grills all black to hide the M4 emblem if it cant be removed. I am sure LTMW can also sand, fill and paint that area with the emblem for a cleaner, proper look. OP, car looks great! |

I think the modded F32 looks terrific. Although I would not mod my 335i M Performance, I respectfully disagree with the above quotes on a few points: - In Canada, the M3 equipped with the SAME options as my M Performance 335i xDrive is 32k more (40k with the CCB), or 80k vs $114-121,000. Am including every bit of financing and taxes. Price wise, if someone adds 5k on aesthetics, hard to disagree with them. In the US the ratio difference is similar between a fully loaded M3 and a top of the line 335i. - It is very true that if I were in the US M3 is the way to go for that amount of money, BUT only in the warmer states. In the Snow Belt no reasonable BMW owner drives his M3 on black ice, snow, slush and the Canadian pellet sized hail of salt chips on our highways. Even with winter tires, RWD owners have had too many incidents in the snow zones, and why RWD have all but disappeared in the F30 lineup. It is inefficient and not attractive to use an M3 as a DD in all conditions. Many owners drive their M3 sporadically, and, in my town, 5-6 months tops. For some, the F30/F32 is the main or best DD option. Others may not be able to even insure an M3 due to other factors. - When Florian Nissl drew the M3/M3 lines, his #2 designs went to the M Performance parts/F30. Deliberate, to keep the M3 / M4 line more 'exclusive'. More 'athletic.' BMW's own words. That aside, FLorian's M Performance 2nd rate design is so well done, that 9/10 people mistake my car for an M3 even at a BMW dealership, until they look at it more carefully. Outside, virtually every guy girl or cop believe its an M3 and am done trying to explain why it is not. I now answer "Look more carefully, what do you think?" There is a significant visual blur between the F30 and M with the M Performance lineup, and the first poster is not at fault the least. What is or can be called pretense, is the M splattered all over the M Performance parts (not the least the black skirt on my car), yet it’s not an M3. That is BMW's doing. - On hot summer days, the engine gets hot with spirited yet not uber forceful driving. Since this engine is way more powerful than much older less powerful BMW cars and engine that did have the hood vents, BMW should have offered it for the N55 engine as well. If some members want to bypass the M Performance parts and go for the M3/M4, I think it a smarter aesthetic choice than keeping the M Performance. But if someone has already bought the M Performance and paid top dollar, that would make no sense. Took me about 100 hrs to learn all the codes and options as the forums and data sheets built up and helped me. My assessment is that BMW has got it all wrong with 4-5 F30 335 sedan car lineup offering, a poor confusing choice: - 335i base. Poor drive and looks for a 2012+ BMW. - 335i M Sport without Adaptive M or M Performance brakes etc. - 335i M Sport with Adaptive, or M Brakes, either or or some M Performance parts; - 335i base or M-Sports modified by owners with Dinan stuff and thousands of dollars doing or undoing crashing suspension mods; - 335i M Performance Edition, top of the line, M Brakes, M Exhaust, MPPK, Aeros, Adaptive M, nicest to drive 335i configuration and closer to what BMW ownes demanded. BMW should offer: - 335i base with some nice options, and - M335i S335 or 335i M Performance or 335i Sport with the uncompromising 3-series drive users demanded but got let down on the base model and a first rate, close to M or similar but unique look. No overlap with the base 335i Series. Price would be kept reasonable through factory assembly of most ‘M’ or Sport options. M3 is a terrific car to get but with key sub-options: HUD/M race wheel and the camera+ sensors. Right now these are hidden in 9k worth of packages. In 2018 I think Cam/sensors are becoming mandatory, so BMW and Porsche will be short-circuited 9k worth of options they forced for just camera and sensors. The documentaries suggest that BMW lacked a coherent vision, and mostly due to no anticipating the demand, success and appeal of the M and M Perforrmance line-up aesthetics and performance, and did not integrate properly in their Marketting and offering strategy. When reviewed initially by Top Gear, the 335i lost two points on looks alone and it was a correct assessment. Last edited by Musashi; 01-09-2015 at 08:19 AM.. |

I personally think a great project to complete would be to repeat this mod on the 435i M-Sport Gran Coupe. With no M4 Gran Coupe in the works, I'd love to see what the GC would look like in M4 clothes! |
