Then why 2016 model still has the same name and engine?

328i should be 330i right?

B48 is 330, and that is coming next year I believe... N20/N26 is the 328.

I'll be saving approx. $2000 ordering a 2016 340 vs a 2015 335. And supposedly the handling has been improved. That alone is the reason to buy a 2016, if it's truly better.

Well, I'm not sure what you're arguing exactly, you could have easily loaded a 2015 335i xDrive up to the base price of an M3 (and a 435 up to M4, 550 up to M5, 650 up to M6, etc.). That's nothing new, and frankly it's expected since you're comparing a loaded lower model to a base higher model.

As for the prices themselves, I was going to order a 2015 335i xDrive M Sport with Performance Power Kit, etc. Would have had just about every option, and the MSRP was $62905. I just built a comparable 2016 340i xDrive (and added the Track Handling Pack, which wasn't available before, and I wasn't getting the M Sport brakes or variable sport steering on the 2015) and it came to only $60100, so I am actually saving $2805, and getting more stuff. How did that happen? Because I didn't need to get the $1730 Power Kit anymore, and the $2200 Premium Package is now standard. So the new one is $2805 less expensive, with equipment I wasn't getting before, and the car has LED's now and all the other new stuff from the LCI. Makes getting the 2016 a no brainer to me.
Ok let me clarify, I don't give a damn about led headlights or executive packaging.....I just need nav, a way to play my iPhone music, and a 6 speed. I don't think enthusiasts give a damn about the gizmos either but that's just me.

My point is in the past I would have chosen a n54 or n55 over the s65 v8 for power and ease of tuning. Now with the beast mode m3/4 TT 6, why bother with its underpowered step brother? That makes very little sense to me. I would sacrifice superficial options any day for power. Especially if you plan on modding the hell out of your 340/440 (with most likely warranty voiding tuning stuff) why not just stay factory warranty and cough up a few extra bucks for M performance? No brainier here.

I'd take a base M over any regular 3/4 series any day of the week. The people that say they won't are lying to themselves. Unless of course you need AWD.

I may be confused - but where is the "Navigation Professional" option? Is it embedded somewhere - don't see it on printout. Thanks

You are making a lot of assumptions and blanket statements about what people want. Clearly, you would rather have the power than the options. That is fine. I'd rather have both the power AND the options, but if I have to choose between the two and the power is already pretty darn good, I'll take the options (I have no intention of modding my 340, and I am perfectly content with 0-60 in the low 4's). And incidentally, if you don't want all the options, a 340i stick with navigation costs about $17k less than a base M3. That's a pretty big delta.

Yes, the 340i will be available before the 330i in the US, with the 330i coming in MY2017. As for reasoning, only BMW knows, but the N55 debuted before the N20, so I believe there's precedent for not introducing two new engines in the same model year.

440 is coming next Spring. LCI for 4 series isn't until Summer 2017.

No, 328 is staying until next summer. 330 won't hit states until Summer 2016.

I may be wrong, but I think the optional Navigation system is the new "Navigation Professional" option you're referring to. It's available as part of the technology package ZTP or standalone option 609.

As opposed to the 'amateur navigation system', which is a map in the glove box, lol.

Harmon Kardon for free on 340i makes me little upset. I paid for it on the 2015 335i. C'mon, BMW....hook a brother up. I will settle for the MPPK upgrade.

Maybe...so 340i is the big change for 2016, 328i will get only the cosmetics not the engine...

now I'm confused more about waiting or not

328 gets the "improved" steering and suspension tweaks as well, which could be worth it...although won't know until deliveries start.

Yes. PSS for that option. Unfortunately it doesn't appear you get PSS with the 19" wheel upgrade.

They basically removed leather from premium package and added basic LED headlights.
Wait, lighting package requires premium package?

If 340/328 etc SOP is 7/15...when does BMW start accepting customer orders as well as updating its "build your own" website? Their Customer Relations/Service Department is quite useless - did not even know pricing guide was out since 5/26

I've read that allocations will be open on 6/4. Not sure if it was accurate.

I hope you are right. My CA is going to hold his first 340i allocation for me and he said he thought that would happen this week. I'll post back if I hear anything from him.
