Unfortunately, my budged is capped around $1000 (wife's orders! ) so it's going to have to be Blistein B14 (with a 2-3 month wait to get them from Germany) or BC Racing coilovers.

I only plan on going to the track 1-2 times per year, but I do want the best handling I can buy at this price point for every day driving as well. I don't think I'd mind something stiffer and very planted but it's hard to say in terms of comfort without ever driving one.

Does anyone know if it's easy to adjust the damping (compression/rebound) and height on the BC coilovers?

Their page says "Full height adjustability through the shock body (not spring) and 30 levels of damping adjustment" but I don't know if this is easily done.

For 1000 I'd get Swift spec-r springs and koni sports. You'll have some adjustment in the koni's and it will handle excellent.

That's probably more hardcore than a coilover setup. He'd need to choose a height, and spring rate for the swift springs to order them just to get the drop and behavior he's looking for loll. Model them after eibachs or HR or the others that are sold with a marketed drop? The chances he gets their advertised drop fall even more

But that'd probably be a nice setup if he can calculate all of that

Does no one like the H&R coilovers? I never see them mentioned and I was leaning toward them.

Yeah dampening is very easy to adjust, especially up front, just pop the hood and twist the knob, the rears you have to take the wheel off but it's also as easy as just twisting left/right once it's off. Height adjustment up front is super easy to adjust, there's tons of videos showing how it's done, the rear can be a little trickier to raise (lowering is super easy) because it's not a true coilover (separate spring/shock body) so sometimes you have to take the control arm bolt out.

Depending on what your goals are I do think you should consider a shock/spring combo though with the $1000 budget especially, if you're not super concerned about dialing in a specific wheel gap/ride they'll provide the best performance (if paired correctly) at that price point, and this is coming from someone with BC's that's happy with them.

I always worry about that combo because you can’t adjust anything once it’s on, right? So if you don’t like the ride height, you’re stuck.

I’ve had springs only before and that was horrible although admittedly I wasn’t smart enough to pair them with shocks.

No height wouldn't be adjustable but the konis are adjustable for compression. The swift springs sit 1" lower than stock.

I've been drooling over some Ohlins R&T but I'm starting to rethink my budget. I really want ride height and damping adjustment so leaning towards the Bilstein B16s. For the price of the Ohlins I can get the B16s and H&R front and rear sway bars.

Where? The b16 gp for about 2K, and the Ohlins can be had for about the same.

Any updates on the B14's?

Been on the market for 2 months and still can't decide what the hell to go with.

It's not like you guys are adjusting every weekend for track conditions right? With the Koni, you can adjust the shock for softer or stiffer.

Set on Tirerack is about $800. Springs run $199-$350 whichever you prefer.
FYI- it appears that you are referencing Koni Sport shocks that are manually adjustable.

Be careful with abbreviations since Koni SA could be short for Koni Special Active which been out for over a year. It's not a manually adjustable shock. It is a self-adjusting dual valve shock developed by Koni with McLaren.

One valve responds to frequency generated by handling situation and the other valve responds to frequency from rough roads/potholes. It handles both daily driving on crappy roads and sporty driving on curves. It's kinda like the BMW Active dampers without an electrical connection. I've got a 335i Xdrive with Eibach springs and Koni Special Active dampers. Great combination!

M adaptive suspension

I have a rwd f30 m sport 340i and I want to add a coil over system. Do I need to get rid of the m adaptive suspension to install the coilovers. If I need to tune it out, will it effect my cpo warranty?
