Rear drum brake issue

I have an issue with my handbrake not catching my drum when I pull the handle up. I bought a brake kit from ecstuning which includes all pads and rotors. I replaced the rear rotor and adjusted the drum spring and when I went to pull the handbrake, it still goes all the way up. So I'm thinking that the hub on the rear rotor is too big for the drum pads to catch the rotor. Has anyone encountered this issue? If so, what was the solution? Thanks.

If they're the wrong rotors you need to get the right ones. It seems unlikely that the wrong rotor would allow the calipers to fit. Did you adjust the shoes? https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...brake/Gff2d2Mq

It seems it's the right rotors. I mean they fit no problems. It's just not catching the shoes when applied. I did adjust the shoes out all the way already.

I'd say if the shoes can't make contact that's a fit problem. Did you keep the old rotors for comparison?

I'd suspect the rotor as well. The reason I mention this, I bought a BBK for my F23 then decided to use it on my F31 instead. They had to swap the rear rotors out specifically for the issue you are describing. Didn't cost me anything, but it did alert me to the fact that while much of the kit was identical car to car the rear rotor was not.

Did you order the rear rotor for a 35i or xDrive vehicle? IIRC those had a larger hat than the ones for the 28i RWD vehicles.

I got the whole set from Sun BMW, and I got the rear rotors for a 2016 M235 xDrive convertible. They would not work on my 2016 328 xDrive wagon. The rest of the kit - calipers, pads, front rotors - identical.

Ok so I got the correct rotor and adjusted the handbrake. It seems to be okay now. But for some weird reason, I'm getting like a vibration on the pedal when I brake. Only in highway speeds. It feels like shudder. Anyone know what is the issue? Thanks.

It's not the parking brake, as that's not engaged with the brake pedal. Vibration could be caused by improper/inadequate lubrication of the pad to caliper/pad holder interfaces.

See the attached photo for a quick way to determine if your car has the smaller 160mm parking brake with smaller rotor hats, OR if it has the larger 185mm parking brake with the larger rotor hats.
