More than likely but not sure how fitting a heavier component (with increased mass) will help it to conform better to the WLTP and thus reduce emissions. Maybe robbing Peter to pay Paul as the tests are more costly at a guess.

I would imagine there has been plenty of slight of hand in the car industry recently and most articles aren't really 100% wtf is going on either. I'll just have to wait until Sept to see what I actually end up with but I'm fairly confident I wont be disappointed either way. As I said, if its drivability is as the one I've just driven, happy.

They need the space to fit a particulate filter.

CF prop is much larger diameter than steel so by fitting the smaller diameter steel prop, they free up the required space for the filter apparently.

Those more cynical may say it's a cost saving exercise as well........

Ah ha, great info!

Next question.....how easy to err remove said filter?

(I'm guessing the amount of trees and lentil eaters who died pre-WLTP and pff is negligible?)

Good question.

I suppose another question is when did/do they start fitting the filters?

Prop shaft change was in readiness for it - not at the same time :

Yes but did they have the PPF as well and are they certified under WLTP...as there is a hiatus in production WLTP cert will be the issue.

Not sure. Chap didn't mention it and he did seem clued up.

I think I'll be playing 'wtf have they or haven't they fitted to my car'. Could be fun
