Liquimoly engine flush
Anyone ever use this? Seems to have good reviews. My reason for wanting to use this is to help ensure all the oil galleys/channels throughout the engine stay nice, clear, and clean, pimarily Valvetronic and Vanos systems, but especially the timing chain tensioners. I know modern synthetics likely have enough detergent additives to take care of this, just figured this would be a little extra insurance.

I used it today. It worked very well. Had my engine up to temperature though. Shut down. Filled. Then idled 10 minutes. When I drained the oil it was a dark brown. Apparently it will help the new oil stay cleaner and last longer. Engine seems quieter now too. LM do some great products. I will use it again next time. I also filled up with LM oil this time. See how it goes. My first fill of their oil. Never tried it before.

I had one of those. Never should've gotten rid of her. Not to , I'm just a little bit paranoid about the timing chain failure issue. I want to make sure that the oil galleys throughout the engine are clear of gum/varnish so that my timing chain tensioners are never starved of oil. I also bought this car CPO and don't know if the previous owner followed the protocol for turbo engines of letting the engine idle for a bit to let the turbo wind down before turning it off. If there's any coking on the turbo bearings, I'm hoping a flush can help remove some of it.

I changed my oil today, and it was dark brown as well. What that color indicates is that the detergent in the oil is doing its job. This was the first oil change I did after switching to Molygen, and if memory serves it was visibly 'browner' than the BMW oil I drained 4000 miles ago. Another good sign is that there were no metal particles stuck to my magnetic drain plug.

I take that as a good sign. The Molygen probably has a “stronger” detergent profile than what you were using prior. I’ve read nothing but good things about LM products, and am looking forward to making the switch. Did you add Ceratec again as well?

There are companies out there that will analyze your used oil for you. A comparison report from oil change to oil change is good info.

I use the ECS magnetic drain plug on my metal oil pan. The magnet is surprisingly strong. It's peace of mind during oil changes, because it would likely pickup any big chips or shavings. At the last oil change mine had a tiny bit of black dust on it, but nothing to be concerned about.

I did add Ceratec, but not a full bottle. Some of it went into my snowblower, some into my lawnmower, the rest into the car. One treatment is supposed to be good for up to 30,000 miles, so I figured a third of a bottle would be plenty after only 4,000.

Are you saying you used Ceratec in addition to Molygen?
