ID6 Connected Drive - What are people using and is there any point?

Just want to check what Connected Drive services people are using on the ID6 systems, will be for an F36? Looking to carry out the retrofit so just thinking whether I need the ATM Module or not. Apart from the remote lock/unlock/GPS and headlight flash is it worth it? TIA

I tried the remote services for 1 month but didn't feel like it was worth it. Besides it didn't work for most of the trial so a big thumbs down from me. IMHO the best thing on ID6 is CarPlay.

Yes CarPlay is what has pushed me towards it, I managed to get a really good deal on an ID6 with the 10.25inch screen. The ID6 UI is a lot better than the NBT for sure. But I think I am going to go with the ATM installation as it is not too expensive when included with installation.
Thanks for the help

I use send to car and the lock/unlock feature quite often.

The one thing that stops me using waze on carplay instead of the BMW navigation is that it doesnt work through the HUD.

Do you have to pay yearly for the remote lock/unlock? I have used it maybe twice so far not really something I use often.

I don't have the HUD option so I guess it won't be an issue, anything else on the ConnectedDrive you use? Thanks

No it's included. I think if you don't have it, it's a once and done payment.

I occasionally look at the news headlines, weather etc, and online searches for addresses for navigation. That's about it.

Ah okay thanks.
In my NBT iDrive I have not used any of the options in the ConnectedDrive so far but with the retrofit I will get the ConnectedDrive options just not the remote options such as unlock/lock etc.

I have done some googling and came across CarBridge which looks like if you have that on your iPhone you can run any apps. Might have a look into that and see how that works.

I've always used Pro Nav so I couldn't do without Real Time Traffic Information. That plus Send to Car are the only features I regularly use and the ones that would make me justify renewing the subscription. Occasionally handy to check how much fuel is in the car... If I didn't use the Nav not sure I could see the point in Connected Drive - certainly not enough to add it...

From using the nav on the car, I have sometimes found that it doesn't always give the fastest route and at times re-routing could take a little long that I want but maybe with ID6 it is all faster.

But the fuel level can only be synced if the car is plugged in via USB right, that is what I've found it to be in NBT at least.

My ID6 in my 2018 car gives me an up to date remote view of fuel (and service due dates/mileage). I rarely plug in via USB - only to charge phone so it is getting it over the air (I think that is from ID6 as you are right previous cars only gave a view from when it was plugged in - which I used to routinely do as I did longer distances than I do now)...

Ah that is interesting, maybe this might be part of the remote features that might not work when a retrofit is done. Will have to see how it all goes now that I am going for it. Got it all at a pretty decent cost so will update once I find out what works and what doesn't.

Okay so just a little update with regards to my ID6 retrofit with ATM Module just so that if anyone else does need this information it will be helpful.

ConnectedDrive Services work and you can subscribe to what is available for your own VIN such as RTTI, Online Entertainment, BMW Online, BMW Assist, Concierge Service, SOS/Emergency Call and TeleServices.

What doesn't works is the USB Map Updates as that will online give you updates for NBT HU and not NBT Evo HU. And also the Remote Services don't work, can no longer remotely lock/unlock, flash lights or check location.

What does seem to work which is a nice feature is the Fuel and Mileage are updated without having to plug the phone into the Car now. But this I need to test more as it seems it updates but once I view it once in the app it then disappears and goes black...

The other thing is it does look like it shows the last location I left the car so might be useful when you park the car somewhere and not a clue where you left it. But again I will have to test this more in order to understand how it works.

Just a little review of the ID6 retrofit. Will update my build threat with pictures and how it all looks.
