I got mine serviced. Took them almost 3 months to get parts in from Germany. They did a test and scope and found my egr was backed up/ dirty. So they held it to replace it. Since then they said my egr valve was sticking and needed replacement.
It came back up again so debating to replace that or to do a egr delete. Any recommendations where to order, and pros and cons? I have a state 2 tune from JR. will it still trigger emissions? Side note. I got stuck with 2 X2's as a loaner. Horrible car. Horrible. |

So my dealership performed the full recall months ago, new EGR and manifold.... and after picking it up, I noticed the car was noticeably slower/sluggish compared to before... Did anyone else notice this? still after months of driving, it feels a bit slower.
Now my loaner for a month was a 340i... so that could be my head playing tricks on me... lol |

Seems my F30 320d had the 'O' ring replaced under the recall in May last year when the previous owner took it to the BMW stealer for a service. Seems they did the steering rack fix at the same time too.
Curious to know if anyone who only needed the 'O' ring doing has then gone on to develop the full blown symptoms? Mine seems OK, but it's worrying me a tad. |

Have you given any thought to doing the EGR delete? I'm considering it but I may have to get the parts to do it in the UK. Things are beginning to get more difficult for individuals wanting to modify their diesel engines in the USA.

Don't want to tempt fate but she's running like a dream at the minute. But yeah, if things start going south, it's definitely an option.

My 14', with 60k, went in to the dealer to be evaluated for this recall. Yup, dealer would not give my car back. Dealer was great, giving me a new X2 courtesy loaner. Parts not available. Dealer said we would be lucky to get them in a month. It actually took 2 1/2 months. Put 3k on the loaner! Haven't even seen my car yet, to see what parts were replaced. We are on extended vacation, wintering over in Dubai. As luck has it, our car was finished the day we left the country. That was before Thanksgiving.

My wagon went into the shop yesterday for some warranty headlight work and they said they'd do the EGR recall while it was there. My SA made it sound like they're just performing the recall whether it needs it or not.

I hope you'll let us know how you fair with the inspection. It is a cloud hanging over my ultimate driving experience waiting for the car to catch on fire... What I really hate is the thought that they could impound the vehicle if they determine the EGR needs the warranty fix and they don't have the part on hand. Waiting for it to arrive from Deutschland for weeks would not make me smile. |

They came back and said everything looked good, but replaced the o-ring as part of the procedure. So, hopefully it stays that way... Time will tell. |

Just had the recall completed on my 2016 (07/15 build) 328d wagon. I was a little nervous after reading some of the headaches people have encountered here but I picked the car up today and everything has been fine so far.
Here was my experience: Bought the car 2 weeks ago from a non-BMW dealer with 85k miles and one previous owner. Discovered there was an open recall, and although the car was not showing any symptoms such as coolant loss, CEL, or exhaust smell, I didn't want to deal with it in the future so I brought it to BMW. I figured at 85k miles the carbon buildup inside the intake and EGR cooler are probably pretty bad so why not get them replaced for free? They did the inspection, found that the EGR cooler was leaking internally, and ordered the replacement parts which would arrive a week later. When I picked up the car after the inspection I immediately noticed a strong exhaust smell in the engine bay and through the vents, as well as significantly increased turbo noise. My guess is that during the inspection they cracked the EGR cooler piping resulting in an exhaust leak. So I left the car there and the dealer paid for a rental car in the meantime. Parts arrived on schedule and the repairs were completed. My copy of the repair order didn't show prices but I got a photo of one of the warranty copies showing what was replaced: I'll report back if there are any follow-up issues, but so far the car seems to accelerate slightly better but who knows, I only drove it for a about a week before taking it in. |

Congrats! Was this at BMW East Bay? Hopefully I'll see you zipping around P-town sometime.

Great photo! If it wasn't for the front plate, I would have thought you stole it from BMW's stock photo collection.
