Looks great. I noticed you deleted the reflectors. Love the pop the calipers provide!
Thanks. That car (along with F23) will be at Radnor Hunt Concours Motorsport park. Think Sept 8 - if you haven't been def check it out really fun day in the country.
Ok, I will. I know DelVal CCA had their event around or at that place? Maybe I'll bring the F31 too.
I think a number of local clubs are there. I haven't been in a few years and this is my first time in Motorsport park so not entirely sure.

DelVAl and Main Line BMw are sponsoring Star Wars at the Mann next week too.

I saw that, we are heading to the NJ shore for the week today so coming back that Saturday the Trooper would have been right at home there too!

Polish and ceramic coating. It was my first time for both so I took my time and spread it out over a few days. Full chemical decontamination followed by a 1-step polish (Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 2.0). I used Optimum Glosscoat for the ceramic. There are better products to use but these are idiot proof for a first timer. Nice gloss on the stormtrooper.

Installed OEM gloss black side skirt extenders purchased from a forum member. Took about 3 hours but did it right by taking off the side skirts and using rivets instead of just 3M tape.

Had to fix my bumber

Since some unknown idiot could not get passed my car without touching it. There were various scratches between the camera and the wing. Had to sand, fill, paint and varnish.

Replaced my valve cover gasket. Followed a combination of eatsleepdrive's YouTube diy and newtis. Having my engine open was pretty nerve-wracking, but got everything put back together, following all torque specs, and the engine runs fine. Hopefully I didn't screw anything up!

Start to finish, it was about a 6 hour job including breaks. The only thing that sorta weirds me out a bit is the torque specs for the valve cover bolts say to tighten to 8.5 Nm, which is just over 6.2 ft-lbs. Seemed really light, but I still went with it; didn't want to risk cracking the valve cover.

Gonna take a drive in a bit to see if it solved the burning oil smell that would emanate from the engine bay after a drive. Fingers crossed.

QUICK UPDATE:
Took a quick drive and came back and panicked a bit because there was more smoke than before. I opened the hood but didn't see any obvious leaks and I actually had to drive about 25 miles (mostly highway) to get to a house where I'm dog sitting at the moment. I grabbed my toolbox just in case and continued driving, keeping an eye on my sensor values via BimmerLink the whole way. Nothing out of the ordinary and when I got to my destination, there didn't seem to be any more smoke. I'm guessing that some oil dripped during the gasket replacement procedure and it was that residual oil that was burning off. Anyone else DIY this job and have any further insight?

How did you get the nuts to hook on to the other side of the bolts? Did you have to remove the front bumper for that?
if you remove the belly pan you can reach in from the bottom, if you have smaller hands like me, you can do it if your patient. I was pulling the bumper off to do something else anyways so I put one in with it on the car to make sure it was possible(I wanted to be able to remove the splitter with the bumper on if I needed to) but I pulled the bumper off to put the second one on and it was obviously worlds easier. Good luck!

As you did the work you may have had some oil get on the outside of the engine and exhaust. This would have burned off once the car got up to temp and the smoke would come from the engine. I wouldn't panic, unless you continue to see smoke, then you might have a leak. If it goes away in a run or two up to temp, it's just residual oil from your work.

I haven't done anything today but my Blackvue DR750s and cellink battery arrived today so I'm looking forward to installing that this week or weekend! Going to be nice to have parking mode which my current cheap camera doesn't offer.
