Girls, there's enough of me for each of you. Now that that's out of the way, let's get to business. Lol
Thanks to all of you for your concern, positive comments, funny comments and the bickering. I've enjoyed it. I've been in contact with my insurance who had already stated I'm covered due to the fire. They'll have the car in their possession tomorrow and will declare a total loss or fixable officially (my insurance advisor stated she's positive it's total but it still has to go through the system). Hopefully it's paid out a fair amount as it is financed, though what i owe compared to what's its worth is nearly the same. So wish me luck with them taking care of me. And yes i know i should have gap but geico doesn't offer it and i hadn't set any up yet. |

My credit union gave me gap for 150% market value for 300$, no brainer! I need it seeing how badly they keep depreciating lol.

My money is on rodent damage causing an issue. Up in the Reno area and over in NorCal those little buggers are a curse.

Could have been bad if it was in a garage! Mine is always garaged!

There was that issue that came to light a year or two ago with some BMWs that would spontaneously catch on fire. It was said to have affected older models, not F30s, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I still keep my car parked outside of the garage when we're out of town just to be sure.

I can't understand the strategy of being so far underwater on your loan to value that you have to pay even more to protect yourself from it. Under certain conditions, sure, I understand the need. As a blanket statement, just bad advice.

GAP is good whether you have a shitty loan or not. BMW Financial, where my lease is through, is included. I'm not sure how suggesting GAP insurance is bad advice.

You put $5k down on car. Car T Bones you as you drive off lot. Your car is totaled and probably worth 20% less than what you paid 5 minutes ago. You immediately lose your $5k downpayment and have to pay the rest out of pocket with no GAP insurance. If you put down nothing and have GAP insurance, you just saved yourself $5k you'd never get back otherwise. Not bad advice at all. |

The cars already at a salvage yard waiting for a local agent to come by and make sure it's totaled. Should be a short timeline of events from what claims adjuster made it sound like. And you should (this is going to sound real funny) always carry gap until you're no longer upside down. I honestly was going to but life gets in the way yadda yadda. My mistake. Anyone wanna guess at what I'll get back out of it? 2013 335i 6mt, 75k miles, sport line, nearly every option except cold weather pkg. KBB and NADA put the top end at about 19k. |

6MT may hurt value as well, but not to a great degree. So $17.5 or so if truly loaded - but that's just a guess. |
