Expect them to offer you 13k or so for starters, obviously you will say no... research what similarly equipped cars are going for in your area and start there for the counter offer.

if you just bought it there's no justification for the insurance company not to be close to what you paid.

Many people pay more than they should for a car.

Happens every hour.

And we do not have info in this thread to make that determination.

21k. was roughly the finance amount. Every option except msport and cold weather i believe. And okay mileage at a hair under 70k when i bought it.

Anyways, adjuster is most certain I'll walk away with some amount of money in pocket. We're supposed to hear today. His estimate was in the 23k range. At minimum i want the loan paid off. We'll see what happens.

First offer from our insurance was about 6k above the buyout price on our leased car that was totalled. We took it.

KBB and NADA put the top end at about 19k.

How is he talking $23k if KBB and NADA showing $19k tops ?

I have a 2013 MSport with 25k less miles nicely equipped I'll let go of right now for $23k.

Something is not making sense

I can only guess maybe they have their own valuations and payouts from previous total losses. As in their own version of kbb/nada. Other than that maybe they go off similar vehicles in the area, and i think that amounts to two vehicles. So not much local to go off of.

Either way maybe it'll be less maybe it'll be that. It'll be interesting whatever happens that's for sure.

He also mentioned my car having packages that their system doesn't compensate for that he would have to "manually" add into the amount.

Is this the adjuster an Independent or work for an Insurance Company....and if so, which one?

Insurance Companies don’t usually overpay, lol.

Who knows maybe he puts in for it and someone else approves or denies the amount. Then after that there's some back and forth. As he said, we're waiting on payment approval.

And I'm not saying geico is really trying to help me out, but they've never done me wrong before. Through one at fault accident and some speeding tickets ive never had a rate increase. When i was rear ended they called and made sure to let them know if the other insurance was or wasn't taking care of everything so they could step in if needed.

Or maybe I'm getting lucky. Who knows.
