Coding and replacing blown Harmon Amplifier

so I ended up on the unfortunate list of people that got a blown H&K amplifier from water ingress in the boot on my F31.

After it going off to a repairer they wrote it off as unfixable so Ive ended up buying a tested second hand one from eBay.

Its the exact same model number but Im pretty sure it will need coding to my car when it arrives.

Im checking to see if its possible to code the new amp with bimmercode or will I need to learn e-sys and add it that way? Ive got both connections via bluetooth odb vgate and an e-sys rj45 connector.

Ive done a search and can't find any mention of how to code the new one in.

PS, don't get water in your boot as its a very expensive fix!!

AFAIK, it doesn't need coding. It should be plug-and-play.

All they keep is the sound settings for the car. For example, the one you bought is out of F36 so its sound settings will be according to that.

When you plug it into your car, you want this amp to play tunes as per F31.

All you need is to VO code that amplifier and it will save settings for your car.

Super thanks for the info. I just need to find some guides now on how to vo code. I've got the new amp in and it is working but still have a few errors in BimmerLink as it's not coded to the car as you said

Easy to code with an ENET cable and windows laptop. Can even be done remotely over the internet if you are really stuck!

Ive got e-sys on my laptop and a cable. Tbh Ive been trying to find some guides to do the VO coding and haven't had much luck. It looks like a right old minefield!
