Low burbles/pops on BM3 ‘18 340i

Hello all,

I have a 340i that I tuned to stage 2 about a month ago.
After tubing the burbles/pops, the flash has been left untouched.

Recently I noticed that the pops and burbles are significantly lower than what they used to be when I first tuned the car…

I have a Catless DP w/stock midpipe and muffler I used to be able to down shift and hear a few very loud pops, now it’s barley anything or very very small ones.

I’ve reflashed the car after downloading an update for the tune I have but still nothing…

Any ideas of what I can do?

There's no adaption that would modify that.

Try custom burble, max your duration and aggression see how many popcorn you make, you are catless so it doesn't harm anything.

I’ve heard that if you have your burbles set too high it will wear out your spark plugs? Is this true?

I set my custom burble to 7 . I’ll try 10

If I was to guess, it's because you stopped driving like a dork. You know, reving it high under load and then letting it engine brake back down. Over and over and over.

You really don't need to keep bumping this thread. Burbles are dumb as f**k at the best of times. Whoever thought that cars should have fake engine overrun burbles should have have been mowed down by a bus!

Enjoy the car, and stop worrying about how you want to perpetually p*ss off the neighbors with the silly burbles.

Burbles are not going to wear out your spark plugs.

But as noted above, turn them off, or at least back to OEM as they were intended to be.

Is there a reason why burbles reduce though? I never card for them or did anything to get them, but with bm3 stage 1 in sport mode I would hear burbles, but noticing lately that they dont seem to be as pronounced as before. Again, dont really care for them but curious to understand what would reduce them, and if this is something that I should be concerned about.

The OP didn't ask who likes burbles and who doesn't.

If your thermostat is open at all times, that could be the reason. If max cooling mode is enabled, could affect it.

True, OP didn’t ask opinions. If he posts, he is going to get opinions. I agree that bumping the thread, like it’s actually something important is sort of lame. Owning a convertible, I’ll be grateful his burbles have gone away.

Well, I gave both. Burble are heavily dependent on your driving style. When I update the map in my car, every trip for the next week is a drag race at every stop light (aka driving like a dork). After a week, I go back to driving normal.

And yeh, FAKE burbles are lame. The car has natural ones on off throttle overrun. But making your car sound like a duck cannon, well, yeh, I said my peace above.

Not as knowledgable as everyone else, but looking to see if there is an issue with the car..if there were burbles, and now they have reduced for some reason....should I worry?

I used to tune my boosted miata on megasquirt via the laptop. Fuel cut on overrun gave me awesome pops and flames but I always thought it wasn't great for the car (I had no cats to blow)

Does the BM3 bubble setting work.on a similar.basis?

They do something like that. Cranking the dial to 11 on the burbles has to be hard on the exhaust valves, turbo and cats. You are literally getting explosions in the exhaust.

Everything is good in moderation though.

lol I think you mightve missed the joke here homie.

Honestly I recently put a catless DP on my 340i, and I think I need to customize the settings to turn it down, it sounds awesome but I am going to get refereed pretty soon if I leave it like this hah.
