F36 440i Exhaust thoughts.

I'd like to be able to have a bit louder exhaust that I can enjoy on a spirited drive, but not have be crazy loud in cabin, as I daily my car and would like to be able to hear my passengers, and my kids when we're on the road.

I'm thinking about a catted down pipe and the BMW MPPSK to start, but was also considering a a mid pipe without resonators.

I want it to sound mean when in sport mode and be 'more fun' lol but I also want it semi tame when I'm cruising at highway speeds.

Is the resonator-less mid pipe going to make it too crazy or cause any problems?

Does anyone have this kind of setup?

Since I've got some warranty left I'm not sure I want to mess with a tune yet (worried about them blaming that if something goes wrong and I need to have something done under warranty).

Setup I'm thinking is...

CG Precision Catted down pipe
Remus resonator less mid pipe
and the MPPSK muffler setup.

Anyone have experience with this or a similar setup that could offer some insight to sound or potential issues without a tune?

If you're worried about warranty don't swap out the DP, just get MPPSK or a resonator delete and axle back with valved exhaust.

The setup you are describing will not make the exhaust "a bit louder".
It will make it A LOT louder!

As someone who has a catted DP and MPPSK, I would recommend you to get MPPSK first and see how you feel about it. This will also be in line with your warranty.
You can read a lot about what people think about MPPSK in the dedicated thread (https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1304356) but to sum up - it will make your Comfort mode 10% louder and your Sport mode 70% more spectacular!
The added power and torque, as well as "sound effects" like burbles and shots (only in Sport) are also great.

Based on your description, I think this is all you need. At least before you get used to it and start wanting some more

Depending on how much warranty you have left... In my opinion, just get the tune and a 200 cell downpipe. Tune software + 200 cell DP is WAYYYY cheaper and gives WAAAYYY much better performance.

I have a catless DP, straight through midpipe and the stock back box. Sure, outside it's loud, but with the windows closed it's completely fine inside and not loud at all. No drone either.

I've got a 2000 Camaro SS I drive in the Summer and I love how the exhaust sounds, but when I'm with my kids they have to shout because the cabin drone is crazy at speeds (and it's not even that wild of an exhaust).
I heard a MPPSK'd car with the resonators removed and it sounded really good. I didn't get to hear it inside the car though since it was just at a show.

I'm thinking I'm probably going with your thoughts as it was my initial thoughts as well. Start with the MPPSK and as needed build up.
I'm thinking after the warranty is up though high flow catted down pipe right away.

MPPSK does not have any resonators.
Go with it first and see how you like it! Irrespective of the warranty and humble power increase, it features a fantastic (!) exhaust!

I just added a VRSF High Flow 200cel Catted Down Pipe and that is just working fine for me.
No drone on long trips and a good deeper sound when driving in Sport and is still ok in Comfort.

A friend has a MPPSK and that was too loud for me and I also didn't like the sound signature of the MPPSK.

Also make sure to disable the ActiveSound coming through the speakers

Don't want to be "ricer" guy on the block

Simple dual resonator delete will do the job as that is my current setup and isn't too loud nor quiet! But I did pair it with a bm3 tune and I love the car even more now if you do want a used tune for cheaper let me know and I can transfer to you for $450 rather than $600 new!

I recommend catted downpipe + Active Autowerke or REMUS axle back.

the sound is balanced , no rasp with an aggressive deep mid-range tone.

We use the active axle-back + catted downpipe on the shop's 335 and its a perfect daily in my opinion

Do those work with the standard exhaust flap / valve control?

REMUS re-uses the valves
Active does not

I just did a dual resonator delete on my 340i and it got me exactly where I wanted to be. No drone in the cabin, lots of noise out the back and the cold starts - wow. I have a catless DP and stock msport exhaust so your results will likely vary. I went out the other day and recorded different driving scenarios on this setup, feel free to take a listen (I've disabled the burbles since the video, too much popcorn) :

im running DP and resonated delete mid pipe (stock) and remus axel back.

I was torn between Remus or MPPSK but after hearing it in person, I find it WAY too loud with sport mode. Personally, I prefer more undertone and refined sound for daily driving and with sport mode, I could still hear plenty of symphonies singing in the back.

If you want more refined and not too obnoxious, i'd say go with Remus or Active if you want flaps.
