BMW 3 (F30) 2018 limousine_Subwoofer in trunk

Hi,
There's many topics on the forum about Subwoofer in BMW, but not exactly this.
- Is it really big problem to hear Subwoofer installed on the left side of the car in trunk ?
- On the left side of the trunk, there's aprox. 10 liter space for Subwoofer box. Acording to your experiences or recommendation, please let us know which Subwoofer drivers 8" and 10" are apropritate for this installation ?
- In the middle of trunk, there's opening for skiis on back seats. Is this opening big enough for undisturbed distribution of sound from Subwoofer to driver ?
- a1.Or installation of woofer in the middle of the trunk (on his upper side under rear window - direct to ski opening (for example: JL AUDIO 8W3v-4 need just 8.8l) ?
-a2. In this case, Woofer has to be oriented forwards or backwards ?
- a1/a2. I didn't find any examples for this kind of solution

Thanks
Andrej

Hmm, cannot believe. Is there no one, who has installed SUB in trunk in his BMW 3 sedan(limousine) ?

So, no BMW owner with SUBWoofer in trunk ?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I found this after searching the forums for 60 seconds:

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ight=subwoofer

This is on the right-side, and is a Gran Coupe. But it's very well implemented.

If I get a chance today I'll take a pic of mine.

I have a 12" JL sub in the left side of the trunk. The enclosure is made by a guy on Facebook by the name of "VisualIce." Really top notch product.

I've got a VisualIce enclosure in the left side of my trunk as well, with an Alpine R-W12D4 in it. I'm going to revamp my system tomorrow, so I'll snap some pics as well.

Corner loading is good in a sealed enclosure if you don't have a ski pass or don't want to damage the ski pass. You can always flip a seat down if you have seats that fold. Mine is corner loaded.

If you have a ski pass and don't mind cutting it out then go for an infinite baffle mount.

All of those amplifiers are good. I would say they go well in that particular order you have listed and would place Digital Designs at the bottom.

Here is my install. Pay attention if you have Harman Kardon:

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1408166

I have upgraded to a W6 since in a larger enclosure.

You need a sub capable of at least 500W to play into the cabin if you have no plans to leave a seat down or go infinite baffle. Infinite baffle installs look good but seem to take up more usable space. It's also a pain ensuring the seal between trunk and cabin is air tight as can be.

Run it out phase if you want bass to blend in. Wire normally if you want loud bone shaking bass. Mine is wired out of phase and it sounds smooth but not crazy loud.

Some of the best advice I had off here on audio was from kaigoss69

I wonder if he is still on here? If not look at some of his old posts.

I have two Sundown SD3-10’s perfect for small sealed enclosures. There rated at 500wrms each but happily take 2300wrms lol.

- ZAPCO ST-850XM (219 EUR)
https://www.zapco.com/st-850-xm-ii
- JL AUDIO JX 500/1 AB CLASS (149 EUR)
http://intl.jlaudio.com/jx500-1-car-...plifiers-99396

https://www.just-sound.de/endstufen/...stufe/a-46425/
- DIGITAL DESIGN CM 600 (180 EUR)
http://ddaudio.com/product-archive/s...product/cm600/

and mybe recommendation between SUBWOOFERS

The difference is ultimately down to the quality of the resistors, transistors, transformers, capacitors and, circuit boards. There used to be a site called amp guts that showed the inside of various amplifiers. You get what you pay for. Some JL stuff can be a bit over priced especially on the low end products but from the mid-range upwards the technology gets better and improves. The Zapco is up there for quality.

I would put DD at the bottom. I know a few guys who make DD and it's not bad but not the best either. Some of it is again over-priced.

Rainbow I don't have much experience of but hear is good. I would look at Zapco and JL.

Subwoofer wise the choice is yours. I had an Image Dynamics IDQ 12. It was awesome. I had a JL w0 3v3 10 in my E92 and it played well too. JL tend to need more power to play well so if it says 300w give it 400-500w. Morel is good too. You need to ideally listen to subs if you can. To choose with your ears. Although there are safe bets such as JL where you can't seem to go wrong, it's not for everyone... some have different tastes.
