Thats part of the thing. The sheer weight of it gives you confidence.

I know another member on here also got one as I grabbed one for them too.

Only downside is they are fecking heavy.

I'll keep telling myself that the extra money and the weight are okay due to the extra versatility when in fact I will never need it

Yours 29kg, Mine 36kg... makes a difference Some of the 3ton ones are more like 20kg.

Yours 130mm - 465mm ... mine 78mm --500mm. Might be useful. Doubt it.

A decent jack really make a difference. I've just realised this after using a shitty halfords one. Took about 728 pumps to lift a 4 series. This one lifted my hearse with maybe 5 full pumps.
I can vouch for the fact its heavy after watching chris take it out his boot and put it in my boot! Used it in anger for the first time yesterday and its a great jack. Couple of pumps and the car is in the air (and makes you realise how stiff an M4 is. Rear right jacked up, rear left with zero compression on the suspension and nearly in the air too!).

I used to just use a crappy scissor jack as it's only 2 changes a year, I've since bought a proper trolley jack and it does save me about 10 mins time I reckon on a 4 wheel change

I have that jack. Bought it when I had my F10.

Its just one of those things wondering why you skimped out in the past and just made do with what you had.
Doubt you'll need the guarantee, I've had the Arcon jack from Costco for about 8 years, nice & low & long lifted everything I wanted it to, no issues at all.

Had a Sealy one before that.... was not as good

I have an SGS. A few guys recommended it off here. No problems on a lowered car. Love it. Weighs a lot though. I mean stupid heavy for a jack.

I got a 2.5t low profile sgs one 7/8 years ago... think it was about £30 collected from their warehouse in Derby.... prices have really shot up since.

Am I the only one that can't be arsed changing wheels?
Main dealer/tyre fitters will do this for me. It's not like I own spare tyres, and in this country in the south east (more east to be honest) winter tyres are generally not worth the effort..
Are people using these to give the car wheels a good deep clean? I use wheel woolies that I'd suggest do a good enough job...

What are you planning to do with these?

Changing winter wheels, I was in the same camp as you and considered giving up on winter wheels, until the beast from the east last winter! In the really bad week that I was still able to work I made more than the winter wheels and tyres cost me!

Also changing brake pads and discs myself, saves about £160 on a pad change and £200-300 on disc change.

I'm with you on this. Life's too short and there is too little 'free' time as it is. I don't even get chance to wash the car more than a handful of times a year.

When I did have winter tyres I used to pay for them to be swapped each spring and autumn. £40 a time iirc. Some swaps free when new summers were needed.

Bearing in mind the money we are all spending on cars, I'd rather spend a fraction less and still have someone else do the wheel change - if that was the budget decision. That's just me though, do understand that others enjoy this.

And before the wife and kids when i had the luxury of time i used mine to paint calipers/ fit side skirts etc!

I say life's too short to get someone else to do it! In just the time it takes me to drive to my local dealership I could have all 4 wheels changed by myself and have 20-30mins left over!!

Main reason to do it yourself is because you are not a ham fisted 16 year old apprentice on minimum wage being let loose with thousands of pounds worth of scratchable alloy wheels I can understand if you dont have anywhere to store a very heavy trolley jack though.

Doesn’t really matter how close they are, I can still do it myself much quicker!

You can't work at the same time as doing it though. So that's time lost

Anyway, nice jack and I am sort of tempted to get one just in case!

I don't work on weekends!

Anyway, if you do buy one don't pay £100 like me!
