Add me to the ProClip camp. They are great quality and lots of different mount and holder options.

I've had one in my past 4 cars. I prefer the vent clip even though it partially blocks my passenger's vent the 0.5% of the time I have a passenger in my car.

Have any of you that use the iOAuto Pro mount had an issue with the steel disc glue not holding to the back of your phone? The magnet on the dome is so strong that when pulling phone off the mount the disc that is supposed to stay attached to back of phone is peeling off and staying connected to the magnet. I've ordered a couple replacement discs & stickers but this seems like an ongoing issue. I'm wondering what glue to try and use because these replacement discs are not cheap relatively speaking.

Roll the wheel and close the vent.

Haha so simple - times like this cause me to rethink if I'm worthy of driving a BMW.

Found this thread when searching for a clean solution for mounting my iPhone. I've used vent mounts in other cars, but in the f30 I don't like how much it blocks my access to other controls/the main screen.

I have used ProClip in the past and they make a good product, but again I don't care for their position options in the f30.

Have you guys seen this cupholder dock at https://www.joli.design/ ? Has anyone used it?
I think I could run a charge cable into the bottom of the cupholder and into this dock. The phone would be mounted a little lower than is ideal, but at least it wouldn't be blocking other controls.

I can't stand vent clips. Why block a functioning vent for a phone? Ditto on cup holders.
Looks tacky to me. I also don't like loose wires hanging around, so anything that mounts on the top of the dash that leaves dangling wires is also a no-no.

Kuda mount is the only one I have found that looks OEM, is in a good place, and doesn't get in the way of anything. Couple that with a proclip swivel mount with a built in plug and its also the most painless way to get in and out of your car. Just drop it in and it's powered. Plus the wire is easily hidden under the trim and plugs into the lighter under your glovebox. Pretty much the most invisible mount I've come across. I've used it in my 340i and my M3:

Yes, but I honestly don't remember if it was pre-drilled or not if that is what you are asking. I was very easy to install the proclip into it and the Kuda is very, very solid.

This - no use for a CD drive in a car anymore when you can plug in your phone for all the music you could ever listen in a car. I'll take a pic of how the mount looks in my car when I get back from vacation

I actually use the DVD every single day, with DVDinmotion coded. Also, you block many of the controls with the CD mount

Anybody have the approximate dimensions of the flat front area of the Kuda mount? I'm thinking about getting one to hold the display and controller for my Beltronics STiR+ integrated radar detector.

I'll measure it next time I'm in the car.

You should definitely give them a shot, they're incredible.

I second that. Used it for 2 years now. Fell off maybe twice, and that's because I attached it to the windshield.

that Kuda Mount looks like a great solution. How does it actually attach to the car in the position you have it?

Pressure mounted, no drilling, and VERY solid. I've installed and uninstalled it in two F30s and my F80, no problems.

Here are the instructions:

http://www.kudausa.com/manuals/092585_kuda_mount.pdf

Basically, pull back the trim a bit, insert the mount, bend this metal plate attached to the mount to lock it in, and push the trim back into place.

I started using this.

You use the 2 sided 3M tape (included), stick it somewhere on the dash and you're good to go. You don't have to worry about taking up a vent or having it too low and away from your view. It's magnetic, so be careful with pulling your phone off too hard which can pull the sticky part.

My iPhone is in my pocket with my wallet. Is what's on the iPhone a magnet, or what's on the mount? I don't want magnets near my wallet.
