DIY people... wet walling? Grout?
Bathroom tub. Yes I know. I have a medieval filth cauldron.
When the bath tiles adjacent to the tub are wet with a shower head the water leaks into the kitchen. Is there anyway to stop this? Does the grout need to be changed to one designed for submersion or something else? If that exists? If I can avoid removing the tiles then that would be good but if not I will retile the whole thing when I have a minute. Thanks |

Unless the grout is cracked or has a hole in it it is unlikely to be that. Sounds like it might be the sealant between the tiles and bath.
Replace that. Fill the bath up with water before you do it though. Use a silicon tool to get a clean, smooth finish. Empty the water after it has set. |

If the grout had failed enough to allow water into the downstairs the tiles would be failing off. Take bath panel off and lay sound blue paper along the back wall. Fire the shower up and check for drips.
if you are sure this only happens when showering rather than a bath fine. otherwise I'd also check the plug/trap fit isn't leaking.

Could be the grout. Look for hairline cracks in the grout between the tiles and rake-out and the-grout as necessary.
A single crack in the grout was the cause of a leaking shower in our house.

Yes. I noticed a hairline crack in a few beads. I found a grout waterproofing product. I did not know these existed. Once the grout is repaired I will seal it with the waterproof coat.
