I have a 67 plate 435D with Sports auto transmission. I can start the car but cannot move it into reverse or drive, it's stuck in park.

Anybody seen this before or have any ideas?

I'd just phone bmw assist and see what they advise

Make sure all the doors and boot are shut.
My 4 won't move with a door open.

Is there a message on the dash?

I had a similar situation, trying to move the car a short distance without closing a door.
A message on the dash to the effect of 'anti roll-away feature active' or something similar which stopped a gear being selected.

No, no message on dash and i've checked all the doors.

I managed to get it to work after locking the car and leaving it 10mins. I got back in and everything appeared to be fine and i could move between park/drive/reverse/sport as normal.

Thinking it might be sorted I locked the car and went back in the house. Checked it 15mins later, seemed fine so put the car in reverse and it got stuck in reverse and would not let me change to drive or park.

Something very weird going on. Nobody else had this?

First I have read about it on here. Uncommon. Make sure to make a video of it. In case you cannot recreate it. Have you got BMW assist? You must still be under warranty.
