Auxiliary Electronics (Police Scanners)
Good afternoon guys,
I chase news stories in Los Angeles, and I'm looking to wire in two police scanners. At this point I have no clue where to start. On my previous, much less complicated, vehicle I was able to run a positive and negative straight from the battery to a fuse box. and powered two police scanners. I'm a little weary of doing that to my 2015 328i, but I'd like to hear options. Do I risk anything doing this or is it pretty much the same as any car? |

The only difference between BMW and most cars is that BMW has more than one fuse box. The two main boxes are under the hood and in the trunk, with a third hidden away in the cabin. They do this to minimize the length of wires running from the fuses to the devices they power. The easiest places to get power are the center console outlet and the outlet below and to the left of the glove box on the passenger side.

to top it off, most of these apps only allow you to listen to a single agency. The industry standard is listening to about 6-10 at any given time. |

but thank you for the other pieces of knowledge you dropped on me. I will likely just go through the battery itself and attach the secondary fusebox where the rear fusebox is. |

Actually yes. But much longer than he was doing it for. We saw him on ridealongs, it was a shame to see the movie portray us in the most unflattering manner.
We run a fairly successful business without having to touch dead bodies though. Check us out at OnScene.media |
