There's just no way I'd ever take my car to an event like this. So many red flags it's off the chart. I'll stick with BMW Car Club driving schools.

That's pretty good price for a track day -
I would encourage anybody that's never gone to a track.
To go to a track event and do it.

More seat time the better-
There are a few great organizers on the forum.
buttonwillow is a very fun track.

Why not? You stand a decent chance of seeing something spectacular like this:

By the way, having done this for nearly as long as you have, and having instructed for most of last decade, I'll add this. It takes anywhere between 3-5X the amount of seat time to learn how to do this sport right, between trying to figure this stuff out yourself vs. having an instructor. Even more advanced drivers can use a ride or two with an instructor. Heck, I probably learned MORE in that one session with the Greek Lightning driving my car at Buttonwillow in May than I've learned in the last 3 trips to Buttonwillow COMBINED.

Makes little sense to me how all these guys with their $45,000+ cars make their DE choices based on the CHEAPEST organizers available, especially considering it's going to take your average driver 3-5 of these events to catch up to a guy that's been to a CCA event TWICE. It'll cost you significantly more to learn how to drive fast, vs just going to a proper organization like BMW CCA, HOD, DCI...etc that insist on making an instructor available to you at all times. Sure they cost more...But in the long haul, it's actually CHEAPER.

I still like what the CI said at one of my private event 3.5 years ago at the driver's meeting.

"Which one of these corners are worth $45,000?"

Thank you Carl McGinn. For a bunch of testosterone filled American Muscle Car guys, NONE of them found the corner that's worth $45,000. Now, the question to you all is...Which one of these DEs is worth $45,000 to YOU? Or better yet, which one of these DEs is worth 2 lives and $12M to you, as found out by the organizers, Porsche America, Auto Club Speedway, and the widows in the Porsche Carrera GT crash at Fontana?
