Dyno Day

Hey all,

During our last run in SJ, a lot of people expressed interest in getting their cars dyno'd for various reasons.

I've done a few on my F30 and told folks that if they wanted to make the drive up to Elk Grove, I could work with my local guy to set something up.

Starting this thread to get a head count of interested parties so I can get some possible dates.

The shop is called S&N Motorsport (https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en...oiowCnoECAYQBg) and he has a pretty sweet DynoJet rig.

Adding datasheet, please fill in all question marks for your car.

This link will take you to my Google Drive and allows you to edit the spreadsheet that is tracking all of our collective data. Please be careful to only edit your own data and let me know if you have any questions.

When adding data, open the workbook in Google Sheets (Open With will be at the top of the document once opened) and save your changes. Any question marks in your row should be replaced with either the data, the word "OEM" or "None".

I am going to use this post to coordinate and post any specifics that way things don't get lost in the thread.

Update 1/8/2019

Hi all,

Nick from S&N and I talked about firming up our plan of action for the 19th. It would help him and his shop out a lot if we were to coordinate a cash deal.

For those of you who might be skeptical about doing so, rest assured, this transaction will be traceable and disputable if you'd like.

I am thinking that those who want to use PayPal for their purchase protection, you are welcome to do so, but in order to gain those protections, you'll need to cover the seller fees as well. (For $60, that means sending $62.10)

For the Cash App, to ensure no one is charged any fees, your deposit is due no later than 1/15/19 as they cite 1-3 business days for standard processing, which has no fees.

For those of you who aren't concerned, you can use the other methods listed below. I will be tracking the deposits and the day before the event, I will go to the shop and deposit cash for everyone who is going to run.

If you have any questions, this is an open forum and I believe in transparency, so ask away.

Cash App:

Due 1/17/19

Time Slots and Logistics

Please share what time slot you'd like to have for Saturday. I have allotted 30 mins per car to allow for tie-down and dial-in.

(As a common courtesy, I wanted to get the folks that have to drive the furthest the earlier times to allow them time to get back home or off to whatever else they have planned.)

Folks are free to stay and socialize/spectate from 10 AM - 6 PM and a viewing area will be available to watch the cars as they perform their runs.

I will also be bringing a camera rig to capture video of each car.

Planning on doing dinner back at my spot in Elk Grove, for those who want to chill after.
-------------------------------
Update 1/15/2019

Hey all,

Here is the tentative schedule for the folks that have completed their deposits.

Feel free to exchange time slots if it makes things easier, but work with each other and let me know if you need to swap and with whom.

xander25 at 10:00 AM
FaRKle! at 10:30 AM
IllSic_Design at 11:00 AM
cowtown at 11:30 AM

Lunch Break at 1:00 PM

Dheeth-F30 at 3:30 PM
Diegov209 at 4:00 PM
MFM5 at 4:30 PM
bmwchue at 5:00 PM

Had to make a slight edit to the schedule already due to an administrative error. There was a member that I apparently completely left off the roster who should have been. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm in if it's a quality shop. My last dyno day I did was in my MR2 and it was a bad experience.

I've done a few runs with this shop and I can vouch that they are honest and good at getting reliable dyno data.

Definitely in on this, as long as it's on a weekend! Also, I double checked on my car, 6th gear is actually the 1:1 ratio. I assume the dyno can handle the higher speeds?

I do envision a Saturday working out to be ideal for most people. Anyone have a hard reason to select a Sunday instead? If not, then we can start spit-balling dates. Once we have a firm headcount and a few date options identified, I can reach out to the shop and see about pricing.

For me either day is fine but we can have more input when others say something about their schedule and depending on the dates.

This is definitely a good idea. Especially for future meet ups. We can make a formal "Bay Area BMWs" thread on here so people can find their way to the Facebook group. I don't get on as much as I used to here sadly.

I honestly don't need to dyno my car. I only have a Dinan exhaust and BMS intake. Nothing crazy so I don't expect much figure gains. You can rule me out! Thanks for setting it all up though guys!

I'm good with Sundays as well. But with the holidays and all, I'd probably lean towards early in the new year. Plus, all this smoke might affect the results. I know it's bad all around, but especially you Sac guys...stay safe.

I was in between them and mission. Ended up doing mission just cause they're based in California and that's literally my only reasoning. Basically easier contact and support at normal business hours to us and knowing it was created with 91 octane.

I was told by wrench studios that HC stage 1 is an equivalent to mission stage 2 in similar hp/tq gains with HC being a little more but not by a lot. I went this route because I don't want to put a down pipe in, at least not soon (cause I'm leasing). So both HC stage 1 and mission stage 2 are ok with stock down pipe but of course high flow/ catless is recommended for optimal gains.

I paid $830 + tax for the MP stage 2 with the special Black Friday/cyber Monday deal going on. Alex helped me flash it remotely today. It's raining so I can't comment on the performance right now.

I was quoted by wrench $1000 for stage 2 and $830 for stage 1 so similar pricing to mission.

For those of you with B58 who don't mind the contact and support being based in the UK, you should definitely try HC, if you're like me and want peace of mind knowing the tune was made here in California and knowing tech and support is around normal business hours go with mission.

Either way wrench studios and mission have been returning my emails ands DMs like texts so definitely give either a try!

Now I just have to wait for the rain to go away so I can really enjoy this tune

I'm definitely in. Saturday would work out better for me though. I'll keep checking back to see what is what...hopefully it will be soon before I throw on all of my mods in the new year. Trying to get the "before"...
