Question clean and maintain red leather?

There are so many leather products out there whats considered the best leather cleaners and conditioners that you'd recommend?

Don't know if these are available in the US but Dr. leather wipes are well known as one of the best solutions for leather cleaning... the finish on the seats is painted so you don't need to waste your time feeding or moisturising the hide - this will only lead to a shinny finish and more sagging of the leather as it becomes more supple.

Hope that helps?

Aren't pretty much all the leathers painted? Even black? I user megabits clean and conditioner on my e92 for 5 years and the leather looked like new after. Why would my red be any different?

My F30 has Dakota Coral Red Leather interior.

Zaino Z9 to clean, Zaino Z10 conditioner. Highly recommended!

I have always had good luck with Lexol. I have a bottle of the cleaner and a bottle of the conditioner. I use the cleaner maybe 2 times a year but I condition them every month. My seats in all my cars look great! Never had any wear issues...even with my kids beating the hell of the back seats when they were younger.

The key in my mind is TO USE SOMETHING EVERY MONTH! I say any name brand car product for leather (Lexol, mequires, mothers etc) will do the trick but you must use it regularly. At least once a month I just spray it on and give it a rub with a microfibre cloth. My leather never gets dry and never has cracked on me. There are a few companies with ready wipes for leather...just grab a wet wipe and it takes a second to treat the seats. Super easy! Maybe not the best conditioner but better then nothing.

I always see people in forums complaining their leather is only 3 years old but looks bad. Then they say but I put stuff on it "almost every year". Yearly won't cut it...you need to get on a more regular schedule.

dude seriously all of this shit always makes the leather look shiny when you clean it and protect it. I use baby wipes to clean leather seats and they are the best thing to clean leather period. Its good enough for a babies ass...its good enough for your bmw leather. 5 wipes can wipe and clean all the leather in your car.

The leather is dyed or painted so really no need to condition it. it will make it shiny which is not how the factory intended. leather naturally wears but i have a 2002 trans am with ebony leather. i use baby wipes and leather is not cracked yet!

I will be ordering Z9 and Z10 later. How do you like the smell?

I have 950 miles on my CR interior and already I can see some transfer of dye from my jeans.

Yeah, I wear dark demin jeans a lot too. I find my seats gets dye transfer and I have to clean the driver's seat once every 2-3months.

I spray Zaino Z9 directly onto the seat and gently brush in product with a shoe polish horse hair brush. Then wipe off.

It's the Zaino Z10 that smells the strongest--I actually quite like it. Although I don't like my car to have harsh smells, so I use Z10 sparingly.

Best thing about the Zaino Z9/10 is that it keeps the original matte look to the leather.

This stuff is *SO* good I've used it on one of my Dolce & Gabbana leather jackets!

I agree with your logic. If it's good enough for a baby's skin, it's good enough for my leather seats. Same with leather moisturizer: I don't buy special shoe/car leather lotion. I just use my regular unscented/uncolored lotion at home. If it's good enough for my skin, it's more than sufficient for my goods.

I'm with you, the Zaino products work the best out of all that I've used and the smell is great. People would get in my '11 E90 and say it smelled brand new. I had Ivory leather in that car and now I have coral red in my new F30. I haven't found a better product.

I have dakota coral leather and I use Weiman leather wipes. It seems to be pretty good. But honestly, I've never own a vehicle long enough for the leather to wear or fade.

I use autoglym cleaner and leather balm for the past to 2 years on my coral reds. Satisfied with the outcome. Keeps it matte rather than oily/shiny.

If they are dirty already, maybe you won't be able to fully restore them. But if you are worrying about future, don't, 4 convertibles are better with non-black interior, when the roof is up, without a sunroof the inside can feel a bit too dark, the light or red interior color will light up a little bit.

This is pretty much the gold standard.

Nothing you can buy off the shelf comes close.
