Snapper Rocks Blue 440i with 20" Black style 356 Wheels

Hello,

I just installed some 6 series wheels on my car. Huge upgrade in terms of looks. Also, pretty much a plug and play. The 20's feel out the car way better than the stock 18's. Planning on getting a lip for her soon and possibly lowering on springs. Let me know what you think.

Finally got some decent phone pics. Enjoy! I added the front lip and had it wrapped in gloss black. Just need to add the rear diffuser and side skirts.

OEM style 356 wheels for F10/F12:
F: 8.5x20" ET33, 245/35-20
R: 9x20" ET44, 275/30-20

Not sure if the taller 6 Series tires are used though.

Sorry for the late reply but yes those are the exact wheel specs that I'm running.

Looks great! I would be reluctant to consider lowering springs based on the gap between the fender and the wheel. There is just enough room for sufficient suspension travel in daily driving conditions. Is your car RWD?

Just seeing this now sorry for the late reply. Yes the car is RWD. I think getting the front lip still find the car the as appearance that I'm looking for as it'll look lower with it on.

The front lip will be a nice addition, although exiting and entering parking lots will require more finesse to avoid scratching it.

Are you still enjoying the feel of the tires, and do they make much road noise (are they the Bridgestone Run-flats).

Asking as I've a chance of getting a 2nd hand set of these (Ferric Gray) for my 340i and assume same wheel / tyre size will be a straight fit for my 340i:

F: 8.5x20" ET33, 245/35-20
R: 9x20" ET44, 275/30-20

How do they sit with the rims, do they sit nice and flush?

I've got OEM 403M and thinking is it worth going up to 20" and the 356's

I actually really don't mind the feel of the tires. You can definitely feel the road a lot more which makes you feel more confident when driving. However, you have to be VERY careful with pot holes and bumps. I went through a pair of tires already :/ got them replaced with a pair of Goodyear Eagle Sport since that was all the Just Tires store had even I got the flat. The ride is decent in comfort mode and gets a bit bumpier in sport.

It should be a direct fit when you swap out wheels and the Ferric Gray is a nice color. I love the stance if the car- it looks more aggressive and fills out the wheel arches without rubbing. Definitely worth the upgrade!

Thanks for the reply.

I suppose I've got a few things to think about:
  1. Going from 403M to 356 wheels - is this an improvement visually
  2. Going from 19" to 20" - will fill the wheel arch better, but lower profile tyres will give harsher ride

I suppose item 1. above will be a personal choice and hard for someone to speak for another's choice, but as I haven't seen 356 wheels in the flesh then opinions do help.

Regarding item 2. filling the wheel arch better is always a positive, and since I'm not looking at lowering my car then this also helps. Regarding harsher ride with the 20" over the 19" I suppose again to each to their own, but when the tyres wear down will look at non-RFT which will certainly help here (unfortunaelty 20" tyres are not cheap here in Oz, but I suppose if I want to change to 20" will just have to accept).

Did you fit any spacers on the front of your car to flush the tyres will wheel arch, or is the 245/35-20 a good fit?

Cheers
John

Hey John,

I currently do no have any spacers on my car. The spacing in stock with the wheels. One things to note about these wheels is that they are significantly heavier than my previous wheels. I had the 398 Style wheels from the Track Package.

On a side note, I am getting a front lip installed this week. I'll be sure to post some pictures.
