What’s in the 10.25 SD Android HU future? Any rumors?
Any word, rumors on what’s next in the 10.25 aftermarket android world? Uddated SnapDragon processor? Camera? 1080P? 8GB+ Ram? 128GB+Rom? True full iDrive integration? Android 11? What would you like to see in an updated version?
I’m on PX6 4GB/64GB 720 and it “works” fairly OK, but I’m leaning on a Avin unit but would hate for history to repeat itself and buy right before a new release. What you guys think. |

Looking at previous years, I would expect a new headunit based on android 11 to be developed and released early next year. But this is just pure speculation.

I'm thinking of getting a HU. Based on your experience, do you currently find the experience to be smooth and fluid with your HU? And do you think it'll maintain that consistent performance or that over time it'll start to slow down and stutter?

Looking at how this HU Game is, as time goes on and more folks either upgrade or move on altogether and these suppliers move on as well, it will be up to the members within the small Android hu community to keep it going. Like yourself, rederik and others. So I’m going to leave this question here. How hard is it to improve on the existing design , ie latest processor , 5G compatibility, memory and software compatibility as well? |

I'm more concern on long term reliability as so far Android 10 on SD625 seems fast enough for car operation. Been thinking about it but I want the installation that would work without too much tinkering and troubleshooting. It's a car HU and should be stable. I don't see an issue even if can't upgrade to Android 11 as long as all the functionality still work. The major one would be Carplay or Android Auto, Navigation apps such as Google Map or Waze, Audio Player, reverse camera and voice call.

So I'm guessing a shakeup in the aftermarket head unit is underway. CarNavi, who I initially bought my unit from and who was first to offer 720HD display, up from from 480p, has removed all products from their AliExpress page. Meanwhile, Astrowind is now offering 6/8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Not forgetting all these 12.3" oversized screens popping up everywhere. Also I've noticed that some headunit sellers are beginning to offer 5G connectivity on their units as well. Looks like 8GB RAM 128GB storage 5G modems are just the beginning of what's to come next. Maybe a faster SD processor and Android 11 might also be next to come. As for buying a unit in near future, I'll wait. Don't want to miss out on the next big thing like I missed out on SD625.
