Driveshaft seals leaking/sweating not covered under BMW warranty?
Hey guys, the dealership is trying to tell me that the pic i posted here of the front output shaft, is not a leak, and is only sweating, and therefore not covered under BMW warranty! lol
Should I believe them? After they already replaced leaky seals on my rear differential... My warranty is expiring soon end of the month, and they do not want to cover the front leak/sweat. That shaft should be bone dry, no? |

I am sorry, but maybe I am looking at the wrong place, but I do not see anything sweating. Can you point me to where I am supposed to look? I will compare with mine. All I see is a normal looking exhaust manifold and turbocharger, darkened over time by hot temps and a driveshaft with some surface rust below it, but looks pretty dry to me.

Here's a closer shot. The darker part of the rusty driveshaft appears to be leaking/sweating. Car is still under BMW warranty. Doesn't seem right to me. It should be bone dry. |

Of course I have a 328d RWD, so I do not have a front driveshaft. But my wife has an X5 35d. Of course, they are not identical, but hers is pretty dry. Here is the pic.

Thank you!! I really wish BMW would stop playing these warranty games... Really turns me off the brand now. Think I'll buy another Porsche SUV next. I heard they treat their client's better and do not try to avoid fixing potential issues under warranty.... |
