I have 18x8.5 and the tire guys suggested 255/35/18 because on his comp it says OEM. I am just not sure. They are 0.9 overall smaller - what do you guys think? Need to order the tire today now that I have the rims!
Edit: I think 255/40/18 will look better since its closer to the stock overall circumference. I just realized that 1" less overall is going to make the wheels look even smaller because they won't fill the wheel wells properly. Anyone have any advice or an opinion? Thx |

Seriously no one? I have ARC-8 18x8.5 ET38 so it looks like I have 3 options to stay close to 26" overall circumference - as far as I can tell. I really could use some advice. If I said I was putting 20s there would be like 200 responses?
1) 245/40/18 (25.7") 2) 255/40/18 (26") 3) 255/35/18 (25")(will this be too wide up front?) |

I recently put square 8.5 inch rims, and maybe it's just my offset, but 255 was going to stick out too much in the front, so I went 245 front and 255 back. I know, pretty dumb since I can't rotate either. But the car is really tail happy now. So rear grip is what you really need when you up the fronts to 245 or 255.
Also...255/40/18 is what you want. That's OEM for the 18s. 255/35/19 is OEM for the 19s |

Perfect thanks momo. Do you know what offsets? I went square because I keep reading that the 328i is tuned to understeer and staggered just makes that worse. Hoping to track the car once I get it dialed in.

Mine's a 29 offset, hah. You can check out how the 245/255 looks in the photos thread. My thread is called F30 estoril blue with M3 rims.
I would test fit though. Your 38 offset pushes inside the wheel well more than stock, so if your shop has 255/40 and 245/40 try both and see if it rubs. Rear 255 will definitely work though. |

thx man. Nice ride I am so jealous of that Estoril blue. Sp nice.
They have to order the tires - So you are saying that your 245/255 increased oversteer? It should have increased understeer. weird. |

I just installed 245/40-19 on front and 255/40-19 on my car and they are perfect...even with H&R sport springs. No rubbing even with rear seat passenger. I do not know if under steer and over steer situation better or worse yet, but I cannot imagine the car will under steer more than it was on stock tire size

Thx Mak. Still not sure if I want to do 245/40/18 on all four or 245/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear. It's not a huge difference in size and if I go square then I can rotate all of them. I do have 5mm spacer for the rear.
I need to decide so I can get them installed haha! |

Oh, I came from 225/255 stock. So mine oversteers more since I increased grip in the front but not in the back. So I guess in your case it'll add a hint of understeer, but loads more grip before you get to that point.
