I have the Thule 'Aero' bars with 757 foot pack + 4023 fitting kit. It was a bit of a faff on initial set up but works well for me + a lot less wind noise than on my previous e61
All accessories are fitted to these and the wing bars using the 'T' slots, clever system

Two bike and a roof box on the F31?
Some nice looking examples there.
For day to day I run the wing bar edge on the F31, great bars when just carrying two or three bikes but a little narrow so I also have a pair of old Aero bars in 120cm length for when I need the overhang. I ran a Thule Polar 500 roof box for a wghile, in silver so it matched the car quite well. Only thing was it was too narrow to fit the pram and the Chariot (tow along buggy for the bike) in so I sold it. Now I’m looking to find the longest box that won’t look too daft and also the widest box so I can fit the pram in and still get two bikes on the roof on my existing Thule Outride 561 racks. I’m thinking a bike either side of the box. Has anyone run a wide box (I think about 75cm wide) and two bikes up on top on the F31? I’m thinking of the Kamei Delphin 470 230 x 75 x 41cm, don’t want to pull the trigger until I’m sure! You can see the F31 with the roof box, the Thule wing bars and the bike rack in the three images below: - Any advice is appreciated…. |

Just thought I'd update this thread as I couldn't find many pictures of a KAMEI Delphin 470 fitted to an F31.
Its been bought for UK holidays and lugging the daughters kit down to Uni as the last trip filled the whole car to the roof! It has a really decent build quality and is quite easy to fit to the roof with the T-bars but needs two people to lift it on. I ended up getting it as a package from Roofboxes.co.uk with Black whispbar aero bars which are also very good and cheaper than the thules.

TOP TIP:
If you need replacement keys for either BMW rails or BMW roof box, look at the number on the lock, and order it from Thule (or on ebay for 3-5$'s).... I lost my keys once, and BMW dealer wanted to drill out the locks and replace them completely on my roof box... I figured I'd try the Thule keys, since we all know Thule makes them for BMW, and low and behold the keys fit... |

I'm also thinking of buying a roofbox - mainly for ski trips, so good to know about the Thule dynamic 800 from Volvo being cheaperas that was on my list.
My main concern is noise - how much extra noise do you get? Mines a saloon if it makes a difference. |

I have a Thule motion 800, you do get a bit of noise at motorway speeds but under that I don't even notice mines on.

I got a really good deal on the Thule roofbag a few years ago.
Last minute bought it off eBay after quickly realising that a saloon wasn't big enough for all the associated gear a 1 1/2 year old has. Wouldn't have considered it if it wasn't only 120 quid new. The noise is so much worse as the front of it has a flat face on it no matter how you pack it but it's dead easy to fold up and store away. |

Halfrauds have deal on right now, Exodus 470 litre box, Thule aero bars and foot kit for £389.
I thought it was pretty good and I just peeled the stickers off the box and now you wouldn't know it's not a Thule box. Also my local store gave me a colour choice on the roof bars for no extra cost, silver or black. Well, the black are £20 dearer and fit with the colour of the F31 roof bars so it was a no brainer really http://www.halfords.com/motoring/roof-bars-roof-boxes |

The OEM bars on eBay are £150, would you recommend the Whispbar over the OEM? The bars will be kept on for half a year at a time for the bike and trips away. It states that there a wide bar, so needs a different mounting kit for a roof box? Thanks!! |

I went for the Whispbars and were easy to fit - my bike you just need a bit of patience when installing the bike racks are the Thule 598... just need patience to push the T screws into the bar as the bar has an inbuilt rubber in there...
I will only use them during some weekends - The whole thing should be easy to remove/install in maybe 30 mins? |
