In addition, with the 435, the 2nd exhaust does not open after a set time.

OP, I followed these steps to get my 2nd exhaust to stay open permanently.
  • Set DHP settings back to Chassis and Drivetrain for Sport mode
  • Place the car in Sport Mode
  • Rev the engine in Park to about 4000-5000 RPM
  • Verify the left exhaust to be open
  • With the car on and left exhaust open, unclip the actuator on the left exhuast pipe
  • Secure the wire/clip and cover the actuator port to avoid and water/salt damage

I do not have any pictures right now, but get under there and take a look. Let us know if you still have any questions.
I followed your step and it doesn't work for me. I have verified that DHP stays at default setting (Chassis and Drivetrain) for sport mode, rev the engine to above 4000 RPM twice while parking. Do I need to leave the engine running while I go and check if flap is opened? I will have to try again later.

All this mod does is cause a lot of drone when cruising on the highway. You literally feel vibrations when you tap on the gas cruising at speeds of 55-75 mph

^ This! I unplugged mine and immediately had to re-plug it due to complaints about the drone from back-seat passengers. I've got the MPE, and it was very noticeable and somewhat annoying to me as well, plus it was quite loud during cold start until the wastegate closed up.

The Cg vsc-1 is a pretty neat product. I've had one on my car for the last few months. Although the remote is a nice feature, it is useless for me as I simply leave it open at all times hahahaha (although others who want the super convenient feature of remote closing and opening, this unit is the best way to go)! . I think my neighbours might hate me.

Interesting note on the borla exhaust: it has a mount point for the exhaust flap control even though it's inactive. Kinda nice of them to include.
An interesting note. I have the ATAK and it's functional.

Do you get that same vibration under low rpms?

The drone I mentioned is more of a resonance at lower RPM (right around 2K, which is pretty much cruising speed with the 8AT). Isn't all that bad in the front, but it's not pleasant in the back seat area. The MPE seems to be all about low bass tones, and with both pipes open, you get that annoying bass like the guy with the 24" rims and the 18-inch subwoofers next to you at a long traffic light.

The reason they include the mounting bracket is because you are supposed to transfer the actuator onto the new exhaust, even though it doesn't have a valve. I was curious about this when installing a tuningwerk exhaust on my 235, I got in touch with the manufacturer and he shared a very interesting bit of info. Apparently if the plug is left unplugged the car will assume it's closed and will thus slightly limit power at high RPMs. Therefor I do not recommend the common "mod" of unplugging the actuator. Before I upgraded to the tuningwerk I had an MPE and used the CG precision valve controller to keep the valves open, it's a great product!

There is a U shaped clip you remove and then you manually just turn the flap open and what I used was just mechanic wire/chicken wire whatever you wanna call it and tie it open. no need to unplug and risk that plug getting damaged. hope this helps
*mind the rust, live in utah *

here is an example of start up, drone is minimal and I have the muffler deleted as well and I haven't had passengers complain, more times its compliments saying they really like the tone of exhaust. not too loud, not too subtle.

Isn't there a "U" clip that can be pulled out and the flap fastened back if you want to keep it open?
And this guy I didn't realize already answered that question. added pictures tho haha. nice work

Hey Guys... I unplugged the actuator and it didn't work. Put it in sport, rev to 4-5k and went immediately and unplugged. I know it didn't work because the car gets quiet after warm up. Also, when driving and I switch to sport, the tone is deeper. Am I doing this right?

THANKS FOR THE HELP.

don't mean to hijack the thread, but if anyone with MPPK+MPE might be able to answer the question. The mppk adds burbles which are great, but if you let off at around 2k rpm in sports mode the burble turns into a backfire which is fun and all but sometimes causes unwanted attention… is that backfire caused by the flaps opening/closing at that rpm? Was thinking maybe if those with the flap disabled notice the backfire goes away? Thanks in advance

You will know if you did it right I'd you look into the exhaust pipe and see the flap open. There is no guesswork involved!

But what's odd is that the flap still opens and closes. So, even if I did unplug it with the flap open it would eventually still close. I'm going to try it again this weekend. Again, I put the car in sport mode parked, rev the engine to 4-5k then unplug.

I might as wait when it's cold then unplug it.

i live in sweden and my flap would not open no matter what mode or how i drive taht was enoying as hell then i got the jb4 and updatet the firmware to the latest and the problem is now solved at the same time i got a jb4 and i can control the flap and its now open all time....thanks to jb4....now if i wnated i can remove the wires under the car and it will stay open permanantly but i wouldnt bother becuse the jb4 saves the mode as open all time and you can toggle between open/closed/oem

I just unplugged mine at cold. Flash light into the left pipe and verified it's open. Sounds louder in low rpm now.
