Your options depend on your insurance company, not autoglass.

Just thinking that if they refuse to fix it and don't offer a BMW screen, then I may just tell them I'm not interested then.

That's not to say there's not bad local independents, but they're probably few and far between for jobs like this.

I had a windscreen replaced by Autoglass and it was completely hassle free...
Small crack just above the instrument binnacle so it could not be repaired. Phoned the LV line that puts you through to Autoglass and explained that I wanted a BMW logo on the screen because the car had HUD and active headlights which I didn't want messed up. They confirmed with LV and it is not an issue. Rather risk having it done on the drive by random in bed weather, I booked the car in at their Birmingham depo for 08:30, had a cup of coffee next door and by 10 is was all done. No scratches to paint or trim, everything in focus and working. All good. |

Almost all policies "guide" you towards Autoglass or similar, but if you ask you will find there is no strict requirement to do so.
Just get it to BMW and they will sort out. It just means you pay BMW and then recover the cost. There is no cost penalty, just fronting the bill initially. After one bad experience I always use OEM glass! |

Not in my experience with LV. Repairs yes, but not for replacement. You just have to recover the cost. No difference on the excess payable.

That's definitely not the case with the cheaper insurance cos and DEFINITELY something worth hashing out before you sign for 12 months.

I had AG fixing a new screen last week. Replaced oem screen with non-oem, because I think i am the only person who has better experience with non-oem screens.
Just like after replacing the screen in my f11, f30 now seems a little quieter somehow. |
