Shift light - RPM signal

2017 F36 440ix. I'm going to install a shift light and i need to get a rpm signal from somewhere. Someone did this?

I doubt you will find that. All of that stuff is digital communications, so the old school RPM output isn't there.

My guess is you'd need something that connects to the OBDII port to grab it off the CAN bus.

It's done. Rpm signal from obd pin 9. Also 12V and ground from obd.

Thanks for the clarification! I figured OBD would have it, but never anticipated the "easy" fix.

Hmmmm.... with BM3 Stage2 I was thinking shift light would be slick. Revs spike too quick now.

What are you using for a shift light?

Oh for sure. I find with BM3 Stage 2, I keep pinning it on the rev limiter since it's accelerating a lot faster.

Do you have a link to the shift light you are using?
