how to configure ethernet cable ???/

so long story short my other computer crashed and now I'm starting all over but my computer dosent recognize my ethernet cable even thought I have it set on obtain IP address someone help

Your ethernet cable should be OK, because you can read the VIN (read in the other thread).
But you wrote nothing about the settings in ISTA.
Did you check if the vehicle interface is set correctly?
At "interface type" is has to be set tot ENET local area network.
