Costco Tires - need spare

Costco is refusing to install non-RFT on my car without a spare. After doing some research, that is their policy.

I do not want to spend $300 on a BMW OEM spare tire. Can i just throw in a random spare wheel from one of my cars ( honda) in my trunk? or they will check my spare before installing?

I know i could buy tires from tire rack and ship it to a local store. but Costco right now is having a good deal on some Michelin PSS

Sigh...I just went to Costco yesterday and had the exact same problem. I too contemplated throwing the spare from the wife's car into the trunk -- can't imagine they would check.

They also said they would sell me the tires, but just not install them. Then he looked up the PSS in OEM 19" sizes in the computer and showed zero in their entire inventory...

Yes any spare will work. Used the same old e46 wheel and tire for two e90's and our x5. Was about to use it on some fresh PSS's for the F30 but the no availability stinks. Did they give you an eta on tires?

My 3-4 local Costcos agree to install non RFT as long as I have a tire fix kit like Slime or something. They have great price on PSS too, but some sizes are not available in stock, like 255/40-18.

Seriously? That's a bit far reaching on their part. That sucks.

Sam's Club didn't bat an eye when I had them toss my RFT's and install new Michelin non-RFT's.

I just had Costco install go flats on my F30. The service guy asked me if I knew the car didn't have a spare had OEM runflat. I told him I knew and that I have the slime kit with air compressor in the trunk. I offered to show it to him. He said that's okay and proceeded to have the go flat tires installed without issue.

You should point out that some car companies are selling cars without spares and without runflats. The offer a tire repair kit and air compressor instead. It seems to be the direction the industry is headed.

Good luck!

I have never run into that problem at Costco, but I believe you! I have a set of BF Comp-2 A/S sold and installed by Costco, no spare!
