A few of my recent nerve twitching items

Reality TV. Full of fame hungry loons
As previous multi story car parks
The fact that companies make chocolate bars & the like smaller but charge the same or more.
Social media & the strange reasoning that my children believe their life is over without it.
Constant roadworks with nothing actually happening

I remember t'interweb going down a couple of years ago when we changed supplier and one messed up and you would have thought the kids had suffered loss of limb with the reaction....

Dyson products which are all essentially the same thing - a fan without visible blades. Big deal! I see they have launched their £300 hair drier aimed at the hard of thinking.

Ever reducing fuel tank size in new cars, based on the largely fictitious increase in efficiency. I don't give a shit about the 4 kilos of weight saving on the new 5 Series - I want improved range.

Incorrect use of bought in place of brought

People who say 'arcs' instead of ask

Airbnb forcing you to pay for any foreign currency transaction, such as booking an apartment in Paris, in sterling, and taking the piss on the exchange rate.

Reading about it, and whilst I truly detest the lack of understanding and stereotyping that a label like ASD brings, it made me think that we're all somewhere 'on the spectrum' to a degree. I know I am, as is my father, but we've all managed to stumble our way reasonably successfully through life.
Personally I find that mine has progressively got worse as I have got older. This may be due to the pressures of everyday life and work, who's knows. Being aware of the symptoms is definitely a bonus as I've found it helps you recognise your biggest issues.

The biggest problem with aspergers is how it affects those around you. My wife is very understanding but there's no denying i am a difficult person to live and inevitably from time to time it puts pressure on the relationship due to my outbursts. From my own experience I would suggest that your family understanding the symptoms is just as important as your son understanding them.

Professionally aspergers sufferers tend to be fairly academic so it makes sense that they will do well career wise. In the professional world the ability to socialise is of lesser importance becuase any social situations always have a route to the job at hand.

Our house has a fairly expensive conservatory, but they rushed the job and then spent around 100 man days putting it right. That's about twice as long as it took to build!

Perhaps unsurprisingly they went bust shortly afterwards, after 130 years in business...

Pointless announcements.....

In the space of about 10 minutes at a station in Birmingham I am told to stand behind the yellow line at 2 minute intervals. I am advised to keep my children under control, not to leave my luggage unattended, not to smoke, not to vape, not to ride my bike.

I am also given very loud and high speed instruction as to how to make the automated ticket barrier work. In fairness however this is a highly complex piece of machinery and I've no idea how I would be able to access the station and would otherwise have to abandon my plans for getting home.

FFS if anyone on the forum has an orbital defence platform handy please can they point it at the station and "pull the trigger"

This would make me very happy

The standard of English amongst some sections of our society is truly awful considering they are considered native speakers.

The misuse of literally is a massive annoyance. I was taking a statement off a young 'lady' who kept insisting she'd been literally killed several times. "He literally killed me. I was dead innit." Well no, the fact that you are giving this statement to me suggests that actually you are indeed alive and well and not as you state 'dead.' I tried to explain several times but gave up in the end when she just didn't get it.

The phrase that really, really annoys me is 'innit' which seems to be thrown into a sentence at any random moment. "Yeah cos I was walking down the street innit and he literally came up to me killed me innit, you git me? Ah run to me yard and called me baby mother to come out innit but she was busy innit. You git me officer innit? He killed me innit cos he fort I'd dissed him innit but ah didn't say nuffink innit'

You may think I'm exaggerating but really there are people who talk like this. Honestly, a lot of the immigrants they bitch about taking all the jobs speak better English than they do. Innit.
