Drivetrain warning under continued accelerating

I just bought a used f30 328i with 74,000km/45,000 miles on it.
All seemed well but under some continued on and off acceleration, nothing crazy the screen showed me a warning and limited my speed.
There was no shaking, nothing of note before the incident.
I simply turned my engine off, acknowledged the "drivetrain warning" on the screen and the car ran perfectly.
The problem is this happened twice.
From what I can see it can be a coil pack, spark plugs or fuel pump. I don't have an odb scanner, but I'm looking at getting one.
Does anybody else have an idea what might be going on?

Your profile indicates your car has a stage 1 tune on it. Which tune are you using, and did you just flash it recently or had the previous owner been running it flashed as well? Spark plugs are recommended to be changed ~50-60k miles on these things and more frequently if you are running a tune. So if its been on a stage 1 for a long time, could be misfires relating to worn out spark plugs.

If you are running bootmod3, the diagnostics tool could provide some insight.

But, my guess is it is in some way stemming from the tune based on what I've read about bootmod3 etc.

The previous owner tuned it. I asked them about any known issues and they alluded to maybe suspension sensor going off when there is too much body roll which is completely unrelated because I was going in a straight line.

I suspect they never pushed their car much or they are fibbing.

I ordered an odb2 sensor and am going use bimmercode to see what kind of info i can pull from it. Hopefully will come before the weekend. Will keep this thread updated

I don't have bootmod3, the tune was done by some shop. I'll try contacting them to find out exactly what they've done.

Yeah that is pretty suspicious... seems likely original owner may know a little bit more than he is suggesting. I'd definitely talk to the shop that did the tune.

I got the scan tool and it seems like it throws a "1f0526" "DME internal error safety function torque comparison"
I am looking around and might be due to the tune not being done properly. I heard from the owner that he didn't want the ecu to be touched or something... I'm not sure.
I have yet to hear back from the shop that did the tune.
I'm considering buying bootmod3 and running their stage 1.

I flashed the car with bm3 93 octane stage 1. Running bp ultimate fuel. Car seems to be solid with no errors now

Glad to hear you got it fixed! Definitely must have been something wrong with the previous tune.. and the previous owner probably knew and didn't tell ya. But at least you've got it happy now!
