I retrofitted the front PDC on a 335i F30 that originally left the factory rear PDC only and standard sport bumpers (not M or Mtech).
But the front bumper was changed to an M3 style bumper.

The PDC works but for some reason the two outer sensors show full bars even though nothing is in front of them.

I noticed (using Bimmercode) under coding that there are many settings for type of bumpers and models.

Do I need to change anything?
Can it be affected because of the type of bumper?

CC PIN2 to ICM PIN6

My (new) center console switch has the buttons for traction control, sport/eco up down buttons, and the PDC button.

If you have rear PDC, the PDC button will work without having to code front PDC. This is a nice check to perform before moving on to other parts of the install/coding.
Hallo, you write that if you have rear pdc , pdc button will work without any code.

So anyone who has rear pdc and wants to add this button just to have the choice of activate-deactivate pdc , should need any wiring done or if only new button be added it will immediately work?

The wiring will still need doing. As soon as the wiring is in place then the PDC button will work if you have read PDC, no coding needed. But if you put the button in place without adding the wiring then the button will not work at all.

So you don't have the icm under the centre consul?
You are working on a F30?
So can anyone confirm please, in order to add only pdc button for activation-deactivation , it needs only a cable from pin 1 in the existing blue connector to pin 28 of icm ?
If yes, where can i find this cable with “ready” connections on it?

Unhappy Connector for front PDC cable

I cannot find anywhere on RealOEM the part number for the connector, second part of the cable that traverses the car, to reach the trunk.

I already have the cable, only the connector is missing.

So I finished retrofitting the fron PDC and coded it.
But for some reason the display of the front Sensors is flickering all the time.
It doesnt show the cones stable like the rear PDC.
They just show for a split second and disappear again all the time

Anyone have an idea what it could be?

You then can FDL code this ecu.
On the picture you see the FDL codings for 507 and 508, so you can change the values manually.
Hello, How can you find the specifics fdl codings you have to do for each VO coding like what you have posted in here?

Thank you in advance.

I use the NCDCAFDTool from Tokenmaster.

But you also need a SVT_IST (readable with E-Sys) so that the tool knows the ecus from your car.

Hi guys I followed the discussion step by step ..

I would like to add the rear and front pdc to my f20, in the trunk the REM control unit is equipped with the necessary pins.

Is it possible to have the product codes to proceed with the purchase?

The sensor code

The wiring code

The media code

If I understand correctly I have to insert the wires in the remote control unit .. what I did not understand, where should the front sensors be connected?

Then with regard to the push-button panel near the handbrake, 2 of these wires must be connected with an attack in the icm control unit located behind the handbrake?

Thanks friends, I ask for your help ..

Coding Front PDC using Bimmer Code app

Is it possible to code the front parking sensors using the BimmerCode app?.
If yes, what variables do i need to change?. Thanks.

Installation

Disconnect car battery!!!

I started with the Center console change.
For that we start by getting access to the console pulling the leather from the shift handle:
Attachment 1870404

Then the button unit is fixed by two plastic springs on opposite ends:
Attachment 1870405

The easiest way is to press on the top one by hand:
Attachment 1870406

then on the 2nd one with a tool on the pointed area (you have to try and feel it):
Attachment 1870407

The instructions state that a cable should connect pin 2 on the console to the ICM and on my car that was already connected.
What the instructions are missing is pin 1 and in the end the connections should be:
Centre Console <-> ICM
PIN1 GN/GE(Green/Yellow) wire <-> PIN28
PIN2 GE/BL(Yellow/Blue) <---------> PIN6 should already be connected
PIN3 <-------------------------------> PIN13 should already be connected

Notice: as you can notice from the pics of the kit, it comes with an extra 10 pin blue plug and with 2 cables, connected on pin 2 AND pin 1.

Assemble back the new console.

Front Bumper
Disassembly of the front bumper is pretty straightforward, just too many bolts
You'll have to get half of the bolts out of the front wheel inside trim to access some bolts for the bumper and disconnecting the fog lights and headlight washers if you have them.

On the guides for the PDC holders, drill the holes carefully to 18mm. Most probably you'll have to debur a little because with a perfect 18mm hole the sensors won't fit.
I tested each sensor on the hole without the holder to see when they fit perfectly
Go slow, go perfect
The PDC Holders have markings for their position: VLA, VLI, VRI and VRA
That is the order from left to right, when you're working inside the bumper
L for Left
R for Right
A for Outside
I for Inside

Firewall
Firewall access is actually pretty easy.
Start by getting the cover out of the battery connector. Has a red cover, can't miss it.
What I actually missed was a hole used for this cover, and actually used it to guide the cable through but only found that out in the end. Either way, I didn't found a better way to route the cable. Do your own analysis.
When you get the cover out you'll see 2 covers that get you access to the firewall:
Attachment 1870408

On the other end, contrary to the instructions, I didn't need to disassemble the whole Glove compartment, just the bottom right dashboard trim.
When you puncture the firewall you'll get something inside over here:
Attachment 1870409

My cable after routing it:
Attachment 1870410

Attachment 1870411

Now that the cable is inside the car, route it to the back of the car.

REM
Unplug the REM plug, get the 2 connector modules by unclipping them but be very careful, too much and it will break the sides:
Attachment 1870412
Plug the connector modules inside the plug and reconnect it to the REM again

With all plugged in, reconnect the battery.

Coding

Coding is "easy" and since it's a change in VO you won't need a token for E-SYS
My car already had Rear PDC (option 507) and I want complete PDC (option 508) so we have to change that. Look for "E-Sys - How to change FA in F-series car.pdf" on how to do that.
Afterwards the modules need to be coded.
The simplest way is "ESYS -> Expert -> Code"
Select all ECUs and on "KIS/SVT Target" press "Detect CAF for SWE"
E-SYS will calculate the changes needed for the new VO options
Afterwards press "Code" and wait around 2 minutes

Check that you have PDC working!

Hope this DIY helps someone!

For anyone who has done this retrofit in the UK (or any RHD car), I have a quick question:

How/where did you route the cable through the firewall and into the cabin? There's a couple of entry points on the passenger side of the engine bay, but if I route the cable that way, I'm not sure if it will be long enough to get to the module in the rear-driver's side?

BLACKBIRDSR71 - Bit late to reply on this one but yes it's a bit trickier in an RHD car and I'm not sure what path the factory installed cable actually takes. The point shown in the first post is occupied with the bonnet release cable in my RHD car and I couldn't find a suitable easily accessible point to bring it out to the driver's footwell area. I've actually done front PDC retrofit on two cars now but I made my own harness to go from the front bumper connection to the REM which let me run it a longer way.

On both cars I ran the cable through the grommet shown in the first post but on the passenger side of the car. With the trim removed from underneath the glove box you can easily see the cable come through the firewall.

On the first car I then ran this across behind the head unit area and over to the driver's side then all down the right side of the car and into the REM from there.

On the second car I ran it down the passenger side of the car until it reached the rear seat bench, then I removed the bench and then tucked the harness under the carpet, cable tied it along the existing wiring to run over to the right side of the car and then ran it into the back towards the REM that way.

This was easy enough for me because I made my own harness with 10 metre lengths for each of the 6 cables and just trimmed the excess off once I reached the REM. I'm not sure if either of these routes would be viable with the genuine BMW harness because it makes the wiring run longer than it needs to be (with the advantage of making it easier). If you have attempted this yet, what route did you take? If not, I suppose you could just make an extension cable for each of the 6 pins which shouldn't be too much work. I imagine you'd only need another 1, maybe 2 metres at the absolute most.

Hello guys, my parking sensor button doesn’t work, I can only see the parking sensors screen when on reverse. The button light only turns green when I reverse. How can I code the button to open the parking sensors screen?

I have connected PDC front & rear, replaced REM, replaced panel and all seems to be working...

So...
What for is PIN 2?
Also, aside question, should front PDC enable automatically when close to some obstacle?

I don't think pin 2 was connected on mine either. I just added the connection for pin 1 and that was enough, everything works fine.

Front PDC doesn't enable automatically unfortunately. You have to manually switch it on when you want to use it.
