Also can the idrive firmware be updated if the idrive keeps rebooting?

Hi, same problem here. Car 2013 F11.
Installed 2019-1 maps, after few hours did 120 mile trip, all was fine. Next day NBT start rebooting every 1 min, not enough time to update idrive.
Anyone know simple solution other than dealer?

anyone?

edit: the car is from 2013
edit: I found that from time to time nav stops rebooting (in my case it was 1.5h of constant driving), i have used that occasion to reload earlier maps. Since then everything seems to be ok.
Long driving seems help, after 1 hr stopped rebooting, had my USB ready so upgraded Idrive. I was also trying to disable all options in the system, but no luck, some time later stopped resetting. Don't know if it helped, I'll see later if it's fixed for good.

You can do it at home also, as I just done mine with E-Sys and the full version of E-sys PSdZData.
I had my I-Step version 12-07-533 and went to 18-03-532.
Be aware it will take like 1 hour if you have the basic hard drive. I have upgraded to SSD and my job was completed in 28 minutes.
You will need a power charger if you don't want to mess the ECU during the update.
Hey Can you help me with that? I have same thing as you had it so now I need to update my HU and can't really find any info about that.
And another strange think I did updtate my nav from 2013 NBT next 2019 nbt next and it didn't asked me for FSC code, however today I went to check my car and it asked me to enter code but that code I entered sec after it's asking me again to do same... any Ideas or anyone could help me with that?

I suspect probably the firmware but not going to whinge about a new head unit (including replacement cracked radio buttons).
I have the same car and am having some occasional navigation system problems. I'm curious how you managed to get BMW to replace it under warranty? Is there a quiet warranty extension for the CIC nav units on the 2013s?

Hey guys.

Just bought a f31 330d msport, all great then the idrive has started just rebooting over and over. Thought I'd try the BMW.com/update and yes there is an update, but the idrive reboots before it's had chance to install it. Any answers apart from a new head unit, pretty please.

Hi mate. You said your car was out of warranty but you managed to get the HU changed under warranty. How did you manage that? I have the same problem as you did, but its been 6 years since my 2013 F30 was built.

Mine is doing the same. Can I force a hard reset to wipe any setting etc?

Hi, sorry for the late response.

The head unit was replaced under BMW's extended warranty program that I was paying for, not the original vehicle 3yr warranty.

I don't think that the updates through BMW.com/update have anything to do with this issue.

The main firmware of your HU will probably need updating and this cannot be completed via USB. Only a dealer or someone with the necessary software / hardware can complete this task.

It does look like there is an incompatibility between the HU firmware (I-Step version) of some 2012-2013 NBT cars and map updates after 2018-1.

BMW should really be fixing this issue for free regardless of warranty cover as they are releasing the incompatible map updates (that we are having to pay them for!) and these maps seem to be causing issues with people's stock HUs. As was mentioned earlier in the thread, BMW know the VIN of your car and therefore what version of I-Step you are running so this really should not be an issue in the first place if they had handled things properly.

Mine only started rebooting if I moved the car. If I started it up and didn't drive anywhere then I could downgrade the maps to 2017.

Has anyone had any experience of this fault on the 2020-1 maps? I have them downloaded, but worried about installing them. Also does anyone know where I can get the 2017 map files if I need to downgrade after?

Thanks

I've just tried to install 2020-2 and it failed to complete. Now getting the reboot. Old nav is still on there and working but the 10 minute reboots weren't there before i attempted it. Mine is a 2015 F31 with NBT
