Upgrade to Tune and Charge Pipe

Hello.

I just purchased a 2013 BMW 335XI sedan. Has 6-speed manual transmission and M Sport Package. Also has M Sport Peformance intake.

Great car and I like the power but wouldn't mind a little more. Don't want to make it a race car just give it a little bit of a power bump.

I have been doing quite a bit of research into the mods that are available for the car.

So far I am thinking of getting the JB4 tune with phone Bluetooth adapter along with an upgraded charge pipe. I would probably start with the Map 1 with the JB4 (it is 4 psi over stock).

Would probably keep the car at this level for a while so I don't think an upgraded intercooler or downpipe would be necessary.

What do you think?

Thanks.

Skip the JB4 and get a flash tune like bootmod3 or MHD. Get stage 1, which requires no bolt ons. It'll blow you away.

You'll need to replace the chargepipe with something metal if you plan on adding more boost.

Agreed on the flash over a JB4, especially if all you plan to do is Stage 1.

However I would absolutely replace your plastic charge pipe with a metal one right away. They've been known to fail on stock boost, especially if your car has some miles on it.

I did exactly as you outlined before doing DP, TIC, and intercooler at a later date. However that was before MHD/BM3 were available. I agree with above I'd go straight to that and skip the JB4.

Okay. Thanks. I think I will be going with the MHD tune. And I will upgrade my charge pipe before doing that.

Congratulation buddy! This post caught my eye because I have been thinking about the same mods for my Bimmer. Thanks for the initial post and also all that followed.

Not to steal your thunder but just to add to, I am a new owner of a 2013 335i xdrive as well and must say I've been utterly surprised by the all around performance of this vehicle and I hope you're just as pleased. No photos yet but are coming soon.

Keep us posted on your progress.

How many miles does your 2013 BMW 335i have?

I've owned the same vehicle but bought another BMW before the mileage would require charge pipe replacement. Earlier comments are very helpful: replace the charge pipe with an after market one before adding a tune.
