Possible coding fix for those with soft M Sport/Performance brakes?

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1142589

Seems there is coding that needs to be right with the bigger brakes.. can anyone with them who does coding please check their car for this?

Guy, teaston, Mark, RichardM, Magic... where are you?

Given that so many have moaned about the M Sport brakes being a little soft and mushy at times, that no one else finds this very interesting!

Actually yes, I must have missed yesterday post...

I wonder if as someone mentions, that not all brakes have been coded correctly.

This is the type of thing you should be able to take car to dealers for and ask them if it's set up.

Definitely interested. Hoping that some with M Perf brakes can try the coding fix and report back. Could be very useful for when I have the brake upgrade as part of the PPK.

I'll mention the coding to the dealer and make sure they check/do it. Maybe too many brake upgrades have been just bolted on "job done, guv".

This is exactly what I'm thinking.. could turn out that many of use are driving around with a super stonking brake kit that's just set up incorrectly!

Yes, I do, very. Don't find my brakes that bad tbh but would love to give this a try.

Just need to sort a lead out, already have the program files on my lap top.

Cheers for posting Terry.

They're not bed when you're on it so to speak but at times they seem bizarrely dead, like there isn't enough pressure in the system. Given that they'd keep much of the brake system common between cars it would totally make sense that the coding of the system needs to be right.

You are right. Normally I am pressing on across MK so don't have issue with them.

Think I need to order a coding lead & give it a try then. Want to code all off when I open the door anyway as we forgot that last time.

I have a cable, just my macbook is on the blink so don't want it break whilst running parallels and in the middle of coding. Let me know if you've some time over the weekend and I'd be happy to pop up to MK!

I have a 4 GC with the retro fit m performance brake kit - not been blown away by the brakes tbh! I have no cable but have e-mailed the dealer today to ask if it was done at the point of fitting! Car is in next week to get some springs fitted so will ask again then......

Yes it would be interesting to hear what they say. Does your initial bite seem worse than before... like the pedal sinks a long way till the pressure builds up?

I had the brakes fitted before I had driven the 4GC on stock, I can only compare to the 5 series I had previous but yes exactly as you describe!

In my head it has good modulation, good feel, but the stroke is very long. I tried an emergency stop this morning from 30 and nearly put myself through the windscreen so the power is there but the bite is not if that makes sense?

Either way I have the dealer looking at the coding on Wednesday when I have the ACS springs and MPE fitted

Will report back!

im taking my car back to dealer next week - its not the first time ive mentioned it to them and I'm starting to lose patience.
Thing is; they don't tend to look further than checking the basics - I will highlight this to them but from experience, I wont hold my breath

ive even got to the point where im debating getting shot of the car..... any excuse for a new toy!! lol
